A Note To Legit Account Buyers [warning]

Ok guys, im sure most of you old hands here at sythe already know this but this is just a note to those people who are new to account sales primarily. I am creating this thread, even if it dies out within 24 hours, because I see so many people being scammed as I have been on a daily basis.

A quick glance at the account selling section and you will see HUNDREDS of main accounts that are for sale, I personally monitor the 130+ account sales because i have been trying to find a legitimate maxed account that I can purchase ever since 2008 . A lot of these high level accounts sales begin with posts that go along the lines of their owners getting cleaned staking (i.e. staking their banks away) or getting cleaned one way or another and then selling. VERY FEW accounts for sale have I seen who sell their accounts along with high value banks.

The other explanations is usually : Im sick of rs, been meaning to quit for ages and so on. However this doesnt explain the low RSGP value of the bank. And for those of you might think they have already sold the RSGP, I simply check all the posts of these primarily 2011 join dates with high post counts and not a single post in the RSGP section where you would expect to find a selling thread.

So what are these peoples true intentions?

After adding several of these sellers to obtain their account names, and generally hanging out on the main staking worlds especially w54 duel arena. I have established that there is a rising trend of people who get cleaned in the duel arena and are aware about sythe ( and other sites) where they can create a throwaway account (no reputation to lose) and offer their account for sale in exchange for rsgp or paypal cash. Several people know the ugly truth that if two people have all the recovery info for 1 account, and both try this, it is almost guaranteed to go to the original owner because of his IP.

Therefore, an average runescape player has VERY LITTLE to lose, if say he gets cleaned staking or merely needs another 200-500m for say a divine (for example) and all he has to do is create a sythe account, transfer his bank to another account and entice some poor account buyer who gets excited that he is about to purchase a maxed 138 for say 300m (or 200$ of his money) and provide recovery info, do the trade legit get the cash.

He submits an recovery request, there is 99% chance that it will be accepted, requests an account wipe. and goes merrily along his way, he has got rsgp/money in exchange for nothing but a few screenshots and a little effort.

THIS is the real reason many players WANT RSGP for their accounts, even though they claim to be quitting/making a pure etc. They dont have to deal with the hassle of

    a) giving out their paypal
    b) buying the rsgp

but dont think this lets those who accept paypal off the hook, they are just as likely to offer to accept it because it makes them look a tad more legit.

All they have to put up in exchange for this "free" money is a ban on sythe or a TwC (which may or not come; read my other thread)

The number of players who are aware they can do this is steadily increasing. I found out about a clan chat in runescape where cleaned stakers go and exchange information on account selling.

I have personally been scammed this way. I was lazy and stupid and possibly deserved it, but this way of scamming is hard to counter.

I am horrified at the number of accounts 138s even selling from 50-200m rsgp, a way for some account owners to make a quick buck, and the number of offer they have is even more horrifying, i am sure that 99% of those accounts will be recovered at some point in time

In fact, if they wait long enough, they can even recover their accounts to find a bank on it, or its skills raised.

This is why I insist on an exchange of IRL details before buying an account/ or a bank transfer or the safest, and IRL trade or something. Im not saying this is completely safe but consider yourself warned.

    Very true.

Your last comment about using a bank transfer though wouldn't help the buyer at all. The seller would still keep the money, and recover the account back. There's no way to get your money back after you do a bank transfer, nor could you find out much information on the person either.

hmm yes ill have to agree with you, i realise now that bank transfers dont provide much info, but perhaps scammers will be a little bit reluctant to do a bank transfer as for a telegraphic transfer you have to provide bank account number and SWIFT code

hey, Completely agree to some aspects, but some of the accounts are legit. i personally have a 132 upforsale, And yes it is cleaned, but that gp is on my pure, and i could show proof of it. not every sythe user is out to scam, but yes a fair amount of them are.

yeah, fair point i agree, ive encountered several legit sellers, just saying that the vast majority are. item markets and rsgp markets are far safer than account markets.

I agree with most of what you said but I know a few people who picked up maxed accounts for a few bucks and still have them 3 years later, majority of them bought them when free trade was removed, but now I do agree with your statement, a lot of newcomers are selling accounts for close to nothing, Taco Limey came and sold his bank + account on sythe lol..

Dunno why you telling being cleaned is 100% scam, but I was staking /w one of my boxers got really nice bank, some some of it at sythe then got cleaned, sold the account. One of the tons of my boxers around, but still, you can't state that if someone states he got cleaned he scams :).

This topic was legit up until the IRL part.

I can easily exchange falsified information to the buyer/seller, in-turn they can easily do the same.

But those ideas which you have just contributed are fair points.

    Thanks for the heads up.
