please, correlate recent periods of economic growth and collapse with government deregulation. it is very interesting.

the government is not the major culprit in "creating money"
the banks are allowed to gamble with, in some cases, 15x what they have in savings. this is called leverage.

in a free trade system, we could expect this to happen. only in a true free trade system, there would be no government to bail them out. and so, society would be screwed

finally, if we are not to regulate the markets, what is stopping us from selling more and more slaves for prostitution, personal use etc.

    Coercion is government.
    We are all slaves.

America never had a truly free market.
My example was this: "The country was more able to prosper from new systems which required high efficiency, through free trade and free labour."

Also this maybe are some sources http://abolition.e2bn.org/sources.html, not sure though however I'm not 100% on the authenticity of the site as a whole, I do know that government did nothing but encouraged slavery.

i would guess that statement you quote is more opinion than fact.
if it is fact, please provide evidence of this high efficiency through free trade and free labor

i would suggest JSTOR or PSYCinfo for quality information that is properly cited.

i will give you this, free trade does give short term gains, but it is very volatile and unstable.

just look at the stock market collapse created from people selling "toxic" CDO's and then selling insurance on them. sure they get the initial money for the crap goods and they get continued revenue from insurance, but they know that those investments will fail eventually and they will need to pay back all those investors and fail to compensate for this factor.

Honestly i am 100% against the responsibility of the poor. I think it is the governments decision not our job. Even though the govt. gets their money from us, the poor people deserve the money that is wasted for space exploration or the 100,000$ spent on research of pig gender and shit like that...

I'll check these out in future thanks, cept JSTOR I had to pay for some lol =,=.

    Which stock market collapse?

This is a result of a controlled market and the style of government, not free trade. Your taking controlled market scenarios and applying them to free trade scenarios.

    1st source:
no relation to subject. and only sentence with the word efficiency.
sorry if i did not search deep enough to get ur point.

    2nd source:
was about happiness and productivity and did not mention america or efficiency.

i am talking about when a lot of the major banks went bankrupt and had to be bailed out by the government. sorry for not identifying the correct type of crisis

"There were 140 bank failures in 2009"
    -FDIC
    http://www.fdic.gov/bank/historical/bank/2009/index.html

this is 110 more than the year before that
167 more than the year before that

    Productivity and efficiency are interchangeable.
You need to read the sentence in context.

Here is the executive summary of the article:

"Seemingly mundane things that managers do can have great impact on their workers, says Professor Teresa Amabile. In this conversation with Professor Mike Roberts, she updates her ongoing research on creativity in the workplace by investigating how people's intense inner work lives affect their productivity—and how managers can encourage production. Key concepts include: (There are concepts listed below this but I haven't quoted them)"

    Productivity and efficiency are interchangeable.
Happiness and free labor are interrelated.

Summarizing the article it says that happiness leads to productivity.
Being forced and coerced into something does not make someone happy, and in turn reduces productivity.

Those bank failures occurred not because of a free market, but because of government intervention.

happiness and a lot of things are related. i would imagine the relationship is not strong

so are you saying that we should add anything to the workplace that makes workers happy?
    prostitutes here i come.

being coerced into something does not necessarily make them unhappy. especially when you do not recognize the coercion.

those bank failure occurred because of deregulation. which is similar to free market. in other words, the banks were allowed to do what they want.

if you are saying that the failures occurred because the government did not regulate the banks then you are on my side.

    in conclusion,
it is a big stretch to say that free labor leads to productivity, when the relationship is indirect and weak at best.

this is like saying that we should include 5 minutes of masturbation every hour, because it makes people happy and happiness leads to productivity.
