My Friends Are Haters

So I recently got a job, and left my Runescape bot on to skill.

When I came home I was like "man work is better than I expected" into the Clan Chat (These are my in real life friends) then they go "You think you're making bank at 9$ an hour? I can ask my dad for that LOL."

We're all Juniors in high school.

These idiots don't realize that their parents WILL NOT support them every single way throughout their life, and sooner or later they WILL need a job.

Not to be mean, but I'm pretty sure I'll be getting a girlfriend before ANY of them dream about doing it. (I know I'm being a dick but I'm sure girls go for me more than them.... Oh wait girls don't go for them. I know I look like an arrogant dick who thinks he looks better than them, but it's true, I guess you could say I'm the only "Appealing" one with my close friends.)

Work is pretty fun, some cute girl showed me around the store and what to do etc. Basically I shadowed her.
(I work at a healthnut grocery store which has pretty girls working the cashiers, while I bag the stuff and get the shopping carts from the parking lot)


I just want to hear what you guys would've done.

No one suggest "Find new friends" because I could care less about them, that just pissed me off because they called me out on how much I make and how they could ask their dad for 9$, well guess what idiots (My friends) so can I, one of then thinks his dad will buy him a GTR which is a 200 Grand car (The one he wants)

Also good luck to them paying all the money to get into a college they'll NEVER get get accepted to (MIT)

Well the stigma is that if you get a minimum wage job, all of the sudden anyone who doesn't have one is smarter than you. Its as though by getting a job, you've degraded your possibility of succeeding over someone who didn't get one. That sad part is that some of those kids actually believe that.

Sometimes your friends can be dicks, like mine for instance all ways got on me about how I dressed(I'm a skater but they're "thuggish" haha) but guess who pulled one of the hottest girls in school? lol. But yeah just let it out and let your friends continue to be dicks who don't know what responsibility and hard work means

Personally, working at that age is subjective on its necessity. Don't get to fired up about this issue, personally I consider working at this age as work experience, rather than earning money.
No one should be worried about saving up enough money for uni, there are numerous grants that you can get if you choose study over work.

You should feel better after that rant, but don't that that comment get to you.

 

I wouldn't let this get to you as much as it is. It's not a very big deal.. i'm sure they know deep down you are ahead of them in life.

 

if your talking about a skyline gtr, and you live in us, tell the kid motorex doesnt exist anymore as the owner is in jail, and that was the only way to get them imported, and any REAL skyline gtr in the us is not legal, and will be impounded, that should piss his little ass off. =D

Your friends are spoiled dicks, ignore them. For starters, making $9 an hour at 16/17 is phenomenal. I have friends who are working full time at 19 and aren't making that much. In the grand scheme of things, it's not that much, but don't let your friends think that it's meaningless. To be able to establish independence is something that they'll likely get hit in the face with in a few years. See, people like them will have their parents hold their hand through the college process, send them money every time they run out, and pretty much alleviate any need for independence. Unfortunately, eventually their parents will stop, and they'll have no idea what to do in life... but you will. Consider your advantage as something that holds you above them.

Edit: To people calling this a minimum wage job, it's not. The highest minimum wage in the US right now is in Oregon, and that's at $8.50. Here in new york, it's only 7.50, and in the working world, when people get a raise, it's by 25-50 cents, not by several dollars.

As said, they're just being dicks - Also 9$/h O_O Minimum wage at 17 in uk is like, £3 an hour which i think converts to roughy $4.50

 

It's good on you for getting a job, they are most likely insecure of their inability to do anything meaningful in life, which leads them to picking on you to make their ego's feel better about being jobless and young.

I would say just leave it be, they will come round to understand how their parents won't always be there to support them in the future.
