Jagex Sells rsgp?(What do you think?)

The gold sold on gold trading sites is actually just gold circulated in-game. If Jagex produced gold to sell it, it would complete devalue gold, and you'd see things like simple whips doubling or even tripling in price. This would make it extremely difficult for players that do not wish to spend money on gold to gain any amount of reasonable wealth. Jagex would ruin their game by selling non-circulated gold to their own players.

 

It would kind-of make sense. They would mask it with all this anti-RWT / anti-botters stuff. Why? If Jagex was under Gold4RS and all those websites, trying to stop RWTers would make more sense. They would get rid of the competition.

 

Why dont jagex attempt to shut down "Gold4rs" or "Usfine" then? google runescape gold and all the sites appear lol. if they wanted to stop RWT they would make a bigger deal about it, Read Video's new thread about RWT cant be reported for anymore.

 

not really. what about sorcerer garden? that's money produced since the herbs are producet ouf of nowhere and a lot of money is being injected on the economy and you don't see whips being valued at 5m.

This wouldn't ruin anything as most of you say since jagex would produce the money and sell it but then it wouldn't change the amount of buyers/amount of GP bought at all. It would just sell gold instead of gold4rs or usfine doing it. So they amount of GP being injected and produced on to the game would be the same as usual. Of course this happens as long as they sell for a normal price 0.8-1.2$ because if they decide to sell for let's say 0.10$ then everyone would be buying lots of amounts and then the economy would be really fucked up. The same is happening with gold4rs botting gold farmers in sorc garden. they are producing a lot of money daily and you don't see everything going to the roof. It would be the same scenario but replacing gold4rs with jagex.

 

Horrible idea, inflation would be through the roof, the people who aren't buying cash wouldn't be able to keep up, thus leading to many people falling behind and quiting. Not to mention it'd make runescape like all those shitty japanese/chinese/korean RPG's with in-game cash shops. Those ruin games and are just for money hungry companies to pump as much money out of a free game as possible before ditching it for their next one.

 

It would make them bank haha but yes it would hurt them in the long run. Jagex conspiracys ftw!

Doing that would certainly kill the game for many players, I have played mmo's that have completely sold out for more money and have them lose thousands of players because of it. Once it's gold, it will soon be gear, etc.

 

Highly possible, But why will they buy rs accs and advert a site, and get their rs accs banneD?

About 6 years ago i had a friend that worked for jagex, allthough i didnt believe him. But now that i realize what he told me it still makes me wonder to this day. He said he was saving the crackers he got from classic and has over 20-40 of them. He could buy a house with that kinda money I'm not sure if he has sold them or not since then.

 

Wouldn't work very well for Runescape, as it's targeted audience is most definitely under 18.

IF they do sythe.org will be ...... You know.... and Jagex will be....You know.....But RuneScape will be ........you know.

 

An interesting theory... frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case.

Regardless of whether Jagex sells RSGP, I don't think the game is really affected. After all, there is a lot of gold coming into the economy everyday.

Personally, if I owned Jagex, I would sell RSGP on the side - but I would limit my sales so as to keep the game in a state of an overall consistent nature.

 

Personally, I think this would BOOM Jagex's profit.

People are constantly buying "dragonballs" in that game for $13 or whatever (I haven't played it in so long) and prices haven't risen/fallen drastically for years.

Towards the people who believe that the value of gold would drop drastically: you're wrong. There is only ONE tradeable value of gold in RuneScape and that is gold. There has ALWAYS been an infinite stock of GP in RuneScape. Every drop you get has a gold value, yet no one seems to realize this. The value of gold would not drop, as it can not drop. The 2146M limit will stop items from increasing drastically as well.

If Jagex were to sell gold to people, people would buy. Prices MAY start to rise for the first few weeks afterwards, but they would drop back down to a suitable price range. The RuneScape economy should NOT be based on a real economy, as real life economies are based on other items, such as gold standards and what not.

 

The Runescape economy is not primarily based on RSGP.

Other games can successfully implement this idea as it was thought about long before. The market is not a witches cauldron and it doesn't randomly spit out prices. It is a very complex algorithm with lots of things interweaving with each other.

The Runescape economy is primarily rooted in the price of rares. Rares are the biggest cash sink in the game, and they are forever rising due to their discontinued status. The fact is RSGP isn't generated in Runescape to any significant scale, the only way it is made is via Alching, stealing, and picking up/selling to shops. This doesn't create much RSGP.

If Jagex where to sell RSGP directly, the amount of RSGP they would put into the game would be cataclysmic to the market, as what will happen will be the EXACT same as the current market. The value of GP will diminish, and the value of goods such as Ore, Bars, Logs, RARES will rise exponentially.

If you know very very very basic economics you would be able to work out that if Jagex did sell RSGP the economy would spiral out of control.


Also there is not an unlimited amount of RSGP, RSGP itself is a commodity. There is an innumerable amount of it yes, but it has a limit. When you pick up say an Abby Whip, you are not creating 1.1million RSGP, you have just created an item WORTH 1.1million RSGP.
