Recovery Test not working?

I was using a MM to do a recovery test on the account I am selling.


I gave him the EXACT correct info and his are failing.
I then tried from my computer and it was successful?


Whats going on, either a fishy MM or i dont know?

EDIT: The only IP the account has ever been on is mine and i live in South West England and the MM lives in Norway so thats probably something to do with it?

 

Maybe there is a an IP conflict with his recovery attempt? Are you sure the info was 100% accurate, try recovering on your own to test that it works for you.

 

Yeah it is 100% accurate and got accepted within 5minutes on my IP. So the only thing i can think about is the IPs, but is that really enough to deny an attempt? =|

 

It probably shouldn't be. First password and creation date are really important, if you have that then you should be golden. Try a diff MM maybe or locate an England proxy for him to try with if you think IP is the problem

Recovery tests are so gay, they never work because of the IP. They think he was hijacking.

 

Hmm yeah, I guess atleast now I know that IPs do effect it and I have a comeback when they accuse me of giving them false information.

 

The first IP will ALWAYS have top priority when recovering accounts. If you have ALL of the info, you might be able to recover without the IP, but it isn't easy if you've been using the one same IP the whole time.

Simply have the MM teamview with you, and then he can submit the recovery appeal himself, but the IP will still be yours. Problem solved.

 

Let him teamviewer you, but let him type the info in.

 

Yes but what the point in that be? If it's not going to work on the buyers IP what's the point in doing 1.

 

If you have all the correct information, and creation details, you don't need the IP. So if you were having problems with that earlier, then you obviously were trying to use the wrong information to recover it.

I was just suggesting TeamViewer because it lessons the chance of the account getting locked because they think someone is trying to hijack it. If you're trying to recover the account on the IP it was created on, you don't even have to fill in any information. Just put the month/year it was created, and your ISP, and that's all you need to recover it.

For someone else, however, using the first ever recovery questions and the first ever password will 99% of the time recover the account, regardless of IP. If you're failing a recovery test, you either need to give the guy doing it the first ever/oldest information you have on the account, or give him the right information, because there's no explanation as to why it isn't working unless the information you gave wasn't true.
