I'm pretty sure everyone has met friends online. You may have known some for years. After the Free Trade update on Runescape. Many people got scammed for Party Hats/Spirit shields, etc. Is there any limit to where you can trust a person online? I personally did lose about 200M+ from "lending" items to what is called a "Friend." Discuss

I have one friend made through runescape that has trusted me with phat set back in the day, I in turn would trust him with the same. That's the only person on runescape that I've ever had that much trust in.

Also met my gf online and been with her for 3 years.

So yeah I think you can find some decent people online, you just need to be a good judge of character.

Should friendship really be determined by how much you can trust someone with virtual money? Generally I keep my online friends segregated from my internet friends, that's why I have MSN and Facebook separate.. No irl friends are on msn and only like one internet friend has my fb.

    ^ I agree.
E-Friends are like a whole different category with real life friends.
My MSN is filled with random people from sythe, I don't think anyone I know in real life uses MSN to chat with RL friends.

Ever since FT the majority of people are just out to get you, if they see you with a wealthy outfit they'll try to be-friend you and gain "trust" to obtain your items.

Basically, hide your items, hide your wealth, because they tricking everybody on these streets

I understand, I've known people for about 3-4 years now, And I've trusted them with 100M+ And it's been all good. But at times I feel like they're only doing that so they can get more Trust and when I trust them with a Huge amount of wealth they're going to fuck me over.

Yeah, "e Freinds" can be pretty expensive, lent a mate of mine 5m a few days ago, never to see him again.

I've mainly played 3 online games.

Runescape, when I was young. I never actually was able to trust anyone, and in hindsight it was probably because of the maturity level.

Sword2, now it's current name, I had probably the biggest friend list in the game, I knew close to all the known players. However I was only actually able to trust one person entirely. This trust was for the most part reaffirmed when he shared with me a glitch in the game, 'item duplication'. This would probably be the most trusting 'e friend' I've had if you like.

Combat Arms, I made a group of 'e friends'. I trusted probably one to an extent, but never let anyone play on my account, despite having played on others. I was gifted around $200 in total on this game, and had I think the best account in the game for a f2p player.

Now answering your question, with all my 3 aforementioned points in mind, I've only managed to trust 1 person entirely and didn't get screwed over by him. So yes, you can trust a very exclusive club of individuals, however for the most part when you play a game like RuneScape, it is a very individualized game which fuels the act of 'luring', 'scamming', 'stealing' all kinds of that behavior.

However, I never kept in contact with any of my 'e friends', which just reinforces the point, your only 'e friends' to play the game thats it. Everyone has a bribery point if you like, and if you make it too easy to resist a large temptation, most people online would snap at it without second thought.
