You just have to have the mentality to do it, no one will do it for you

I'm the same way man but, one thing that helps motivate me to put in a little study time and think about my future is "I want to get good grades, SO I CAN MOVE THE HELL AWAY FROM MY PARENTS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE"

That's just how I feel though, don't know how you feel about living with your parents >_>

To be honest it's something that you need to develop over a while. If you slowly work at it, developing a good work habit then it will get progressively better.

Try to isolate yourself from distractions such as sitting in front of a PC if you don't need to. Also, try getting some loud music if you can study to it without losing concentration.

Lastly, it's good that you're working at this - as I said it's something you develop over years and if you start now you'll have it down by the time it's really important.

    Getting Motivated (Homework)

I understand, that's how I was in my freshman/sophmore years of highschool, I slacked and got by with just what I had to, making C's and the occasional A or B if I did good on a project or test grade. Now looking bad I REALLY regret that, even thought now I made mostly A's and one or two B's my GPA is pretty low still, not even a 4 if I remember correctly. So if you think about your future and have a rough idea, or even know what you wanna do already, use that as motivation and look forward to that, say "I wanna do this when I get out of highschool/college" and strive to make good grades and make the extra effort to excel towards your goal. Hope I helped, hopefully you come around. ;P Good luck!

At grade 9 you really shouldn't be having that attitude. Yeah everyone has that every once in a while, but to make it a habbit is a bad start. Think of it this way...

If you want to go to college, think of it as 7 more years of having that "fuck it" attitude and see how long you last. I'm sorry to say but it won't get you far. Homework may be tedious and time consuming, but it is the back bone of your grade! It's an easy A that everyone should be able to handle. You have all the resources in order to figure it out in the time alloted.

Yes sometimes homework can also be very difficult and hard to understand but DO NOT forget that your teacher is ALWAYS there to help you. They aren't paid to fail you, they are there to HELP you. Whatever it takes for you to learn the material, I suggest you do it.

Starting off with that habbit for the first year out of 8 years will not get you far. Being able to do the homework is a good habit of knowing that you NEED to do your schoolwork before anything else. Basically its just good self discipline that you have the ability to say that you'll get the homework done then do what you want to. The satisfaction that I get out of doing my homework is great because #1 I did it and I'm prepared for my next class and #2 if it's going to be graded, it's most likely going to be a A or a B JUST because I completed it.

Teachers may seem like they ask for alot, but its really you trying to get out the easy way, and thats not how it works. Get on your game, straighten out and work hard for good grades.
