    Usually the #1 problem people have that are " Over-weighted " is eating the same thing. People need to learn to eat a variety things. Anyways I suggest taking a jog once in a while. You will lose the weight little by little but it always helps.

    I was skinny too, I had my BMI at 14.

    I've done a lot of muscle exercise, no cardio at all, and just keep eating a lot.

    I thought exercising converts fat to muscle?

    If I haven't got any fat how can I get muscle?

    Or am I just being stupid :huh:

    If you have a lot of fat, well, your body will burn it while you make muscle. But everybody has fat.

    Even if my fat level is <10% it has always been the same, so while I gained the muscle burning fat, I also gained fat to maintain same fat level, it's on my genetics I guess.

    But yeah, I've gained some good weight this way.

    I eat at mcdonalds nearly every other day. Don't think thats going to work. And please be serious.

    I have the same problem I'm 15 and wiegh 135 I EAT SOOOOO MUCH crap and work out play lacrosse and workout nothing works.

    Im a slender build also and have been trying to gain wieght for ages, i eat all the junk food an all the healthy food in the world and still manage to stay the same.

    The only time i have gained weight over the last 3 years is due to growing taller. I also went to the gym for a year straight and half way thro i hit test propanate (steroids) for 13 weeks and gained 7kg which i have kept.

    Im now 21 and just under 80kg @ 6.2ft

    Its funny coz everyone else is bitching about being too fat an needing to lose weight and here people like you and me are just like man why cant i gain any.. to be honest i rather be skinny then fat

    Ive heard that if you drink protein shakes without working out and crap, that just turns into fat. This is coming from my friend which is like 16 and twice the size of every1 in the school, oh hes built btw.. But it seems like your metabolism is really good.

    I wish you luck in your venture, I hope the operation in the future will be a great success.

    I find that once I lost my baby fat I could no longer gain weight. This doesn't mean I physically tried to gain weight after this point but a combination of just eating more and working out should do the trick.

    Consistency is the key, for your bodyweight you need to consume roughly 1800 calories a day to MAINTAIN bodyweight, which means you need to consume between 200 - 2500 calories a day to gain weight. Obviously if your only consuming 2200 for example your going to gain weight but very slowly, you need to be aiming to get 3000 calories a day to start achieving your goal. Set yourself a log for a week and note down everything you eat from snacks to full meals, when you have a weekly log adjust it to total 3000 calories a day then follow the plan for 4 weeks then re-weigh yourself, if your making gains in weight then you know your going the right way if not, add another 200 - 300 calories a week onto the plan and try again. When you adjust the plan try and remove all the empty calories such as crisps and chocolate and replace them with calorie dense foods that will give your body the nutrients it needs to grow.

    Example:

    Original Monday

    Breakfast: Toast with butter, cup of tea
    Snack: Packet of crisps, can of pop
    Lunch: Ham sandwich, chocolate bar, orange juice
    Tea: Spag bol.

    Roughly 1300 calories

    Tweaked plan

    Breakfast: 2 slices of Toast with peanut butter, banana, orange juice
    Snack: Scrambled egg or chicken sandwich + can of pop
    Lunch: Mixed meat salad with a ratio of 60% meat, 40% salad (ham, chicken, beef etc) + Any fruit juice
    Snack: JAcket potatoes + tuna
    Tea: Spag bol with 10 medium sized meatballs and grated cheese
    Pre bed: If possible a protein shake or weight gain shake, or beef jerkey

    Roughly 2500 calories

    If you decided to go for the protein shake, make sure you get a casein protein because it is slow releasing which feeds your body protein at a slower weight while you sleep, rather than a fast absorbing whey protein.

    TheGreatest has really supplied the best information in the thread. Like "aus azz" I also had a hard time putting on weight when I started working out. I bought a weight gainer shake eventually and it really helped. That's probably your easiest option if you just have a hard time eating large amounts of food throughout the day.

    38kg? How tall are you? Seems hard to believe for a 19 year old really.

    When I graduated high school I was 6"5 and weighed 155lbs. I was super athletic and was really good at every sport. Now I run track and play basketball in college and have found myself picking up a lot of muscle from training/lifting for my sports all year. I recommend drinking a lot of protein shakes and working at for an hour or more 4 days a week. This will most likely fix your problem.

    Oh Btw...I'm 6"5 190lbs now.
