Selling Pins?

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and this is the first time I've done anything like this.

Anyhow, I have read the rules and noticed the rules state you cannot sell RS pins. However, when I browsed the account upgrade section I noticed people doing this. So I think I may have been mistaken, or these people haven't read the rules. So I will ask some questions to clarify this for myself.

1. When it says "No selling pins" does this mean actually selling pins for irl cash in return (Ex: 1 month pin for $10)
2. Are RuneScape cards and pins the same thing?
3. Can you only use official RuneScape cards or can you also use other cards like Ultimate Game Card?
4. I plan to use a MM, but what happens if I give my pin and the other person says they never got their membership?
5. Wouldn't MMs have a history of large amounts of trades like this? Wouldn't this be easily detectable?
6. Which free MM is the most trusted/reputable around here?
7. How much GP can I expect to get for a 3 month card?
8. I've been playing for about 6 years now, and as such I'm proud of what I have accomplished. So, when you do something like this, just how much does it devalue your overall game experience?
9. What are the chances of getting caught for doing this? If you're caught, what are the consequences?
10. What are the best ways to avoid getting caught by JaGEx?
11. This is the only type of trading I plan to [Selling RS Cards], what are some tips of doing this safely?

Yeah, I know, a lot of questions. Just want to get this clarified before I actually make a thread, and I'm pretty damn paranoid also.

 

Answering all of your questions

#1 - No selling pins means just that. You cannot sell someone an account pin code in order to upgrade their account. You can however sell them an account upgrade that uses a pin code to upgrade, however you cannot advertise it as such; I'll get into this later.

#2 - Runescape cards are not pins, you can sell and advertise them with no problems. Pin codes are generally sms/phone pins.

#3 - From my knowledge all cards are acceptable for sale on Sythe.

#4 - Here is how MMing works with pins. You give MM your account info + payment (usually RSGP) MM receives pin information. MM applies pin, once pin is successfully applied the MM will then give the payment to the seller and the trade is completed. In the event that the pin does not work well... thats the sellers fault, and the MM will give you back your payment.

#5 - I'm not following your question, most MM's have histories of their trades as the primary goal in free MMing is to one day become an OMM. So yes they do have history of all their trades, and detectability of such trades lies in your own personal investigation skills.

#6 - There are plenty, the 2 that stand out to me are: RsProd, I Fatality I.

#7 - Your selling it so anywhere between 24 - 45m depending on market conditions. A few weeks ago you would've got 45m, now you may get between 24-30m.

#8 - Well thats your own personal... morals I guess. I can't answer this question however from what I've gathered you plan to sell Runescape cards for RSGP, the only way it can hamper your experience is that your paying IRL $ for RSGP. What you can do with that RSGP should in theory make your overall gaming experience better.

#9 - 0 chances tbh. I don't think I've EVER heard a case of someone being punished for this as its virtually untraceable. The only way you can get caught is for possible RWT, and you can be smart about it by trading very small value items such as logs in exchange for your 24 - 45m payment.

#10 - 2 possible ways you could get caught. Jagex realizing your IP is logging on numerous accounts (HIGHLY UNLIKELY, like 0.00001% chance) this can be countered with a proxy. The way is RWT, however you can counter this with what I've said above and you should know RWT bans are extremely rare as is for people selling over 100's of bils of RSGP.

#11 - Look at how the other reputable sellers do this. I would first start by gaining reputation and selling your codes cheap. A good thread layout is exceptionally important, and your reputation. Just remember this everyone sells account upgrades for the same price or a lower price than you, what they pay for is the service and trustworthiness just as much as the upgrade.
For doing this safely I can honestly say don't go first to non reputable people, generally trusted members will jump at the opportunity at a cheapish upgrade and expect you to go first. Go first to them to build your trustworthiness, gain your vouches and in time when you become a known upgrade seller you will be able to ask them to go first.

hey, since you wrote such a detailed answer, do you have any idea why this rule against selling pins exists in the first place?

 

the method in which people gain PINs are illegal, and sythe can get in legal trouble.
