Runescape Pure's Guide 101

Hello! Welcome to Hysteria 112's Pure Guide
This is NOT a guide how to make the pures, simply about the different kinds and what they are. Broken down into easy categories for your viewing pleasure:

1 Defense Standard Pure character's:

Standard Pure:
This is the most common type of pure and has been around since the beginning of Runescape 2. The concept is simple, keep your defenses low so your strength and magic can be amazingly high. Of course the drawback being, you're as durable as a feather. Common Specs for these types of pures:
1-99 range, 60-75 Attack, 80-99 Strength, 82-94 Mage, 1-5 Defense (For Steel Defender/Accidental Def exp) With Monkey Madness and/or Desert Treasure done. Range is nice to have but not required.
Weapon's of choice: AGS, D Claws, Dragon Scimitar, Brackish Blade, Dragon Dagger, Ancient Staff/SoL


Maul Pure:
This type of pure is also fairly common. When creating this pure we're going to be emphasizing Ranged and Strength, while staying low defense and attack. For KOing Combo's with the ring of recoil are generally required.
Common specs: 50 Attack, 70-80 Strength, 70-80 range
Weapons of choice: Dragon dart P++, Granite Maul

Range pure:
Not very prominent with the many weapons available today, but used to be the most common type of low level pure. Range, and nothing but. Focusing on the magic shortbow/rune c'bow, generally didn't surpass 80 range and 50 combat.
Common specs:
50-80 range, 40-60 hp
Weapons of choice: Magic Shortbow, Rune c'bow

Low attack pures:
Again, not very popular with the release of free trade due to the lack of corrupt equipment in the game. However, an obby maul pure is nothing to be sneezed at. Focusing on very low attack and defense, leaving your only defense being your high hp level and your offense.
Common stats:
60-80 range, 1-20 attack, 85-99 strength, 80-99 hp
weapons of choice: C. Vesta, obby maul, dragon darts

Mage Pures:
Basically the same as range pures, but using a god staff and spell.
common stats: 60-85 mage, 1 everything and low hp
weapons of choice: saradomin staff, zamorak staff, guthix staff

Low Defense pure guide:

45 Defense (Zerker Pure): Probably the second most common pure in runescape today, the berserker pure. Just like the name, the focus is revolving around the berserker helmet obtained in the fremenik trials, aswell as the vengeance spell obtained in lunar diplomacy
common specs: 45 def, 94 mage, 99 strength, 70-80 attack
weapon of choice: Whip, Dragon dagger, AGS, Saradomin sword, Dragon Scimitar, Brackish blade, dragon claws, Korasi's sword, Chaotic weapons, etc

20 defense (initiate pure): has greatly decreased in popularity now that corrupt vesta's is nearly impossible to get. Basically the same as the standard pure with 20 def and prayer boosting armor, along with some rune gloves from recipe for disaster.

30 defense (Korasi/Turmoil pure): Perhaps the most fun pure, but also the most expensive. All you need for this guy is some trusty addy and your korasi and turmoil. Then you go and fuck some shit up
Beware this can cost an upwards of 300M to complete as well as a lot of skilling and questing.

Tribrid void pure's: A variant of the zerker, this pure can really knock some heads. Beware the skilling required is a lot, as 99 mage range and strength is often needed to put out the damage required. 42 defense, dragon claws, ags, staff of light, rune c'bow, hand cannon, etc are all common variations

Question about Korasi Pures, why do they all have 10 Defense?
Which Quest requirement needs that?

Which one? I looked at all 3 Void Quest rewards and none give Defence Exp :S

 

They don't give defence exp but that's the stat requirement to start the quest.
