    Multiverse and Unified String Theories

I saw a special on Parallel Universes on TV. It kind of blew my mind a little bit.. It asserted that because the universe was INFINITE, mathematically, there must be another Earth somewhere in the universe that is EXACTLY like ours. I believe that either the universe must not be infinite or that we just lack the technology to move into parallel universes or other dimensions.

Read more about both of these topics, then discuss:

No doubt there is a habitable planet out there that is similar to our Earth. It all depends on the distance and lifespan of the star the planets are orbiting around to make those conditions so.

Not just habitable.. An exact copy of our earth with another person that is EXACTLY the same as you and everyone you know. Everything would be exactly the same. Same animals, same plants, same cars, same buildings, but most of all, same people.

Yeah it is sort of scary; gotta admit > <
But I guess it fits through with the definition of 'infinitum' quite nicely though.
At present; Unified String Theory is probably the most awesome idea proposed ;P

It is kind of disconcerting. I feel insignificant.

That's pretty crazy now that I think of it.
If one (Parallel universe) were to be found, what do you think would happen?

I firmly believe that there are other advanced life forms out there, but considering how vast the Universe, it'll be awhile until we make any contact.

Well there is no telling what exactly the parallel universe could be like... Perhaps they discovered nuclear fission or some shit 500 years before us and they were super technologically advanced. They would probably just conquer us. But perhaps things played out completely differently since the beginning of time in this parallel universe and that in their worlds, penguins rule the world.. It's ridiculous to think that there are endless possibilities because of the concept of INFINITY.

It's not just other life forms, you guys are missing the point.

Just going to say... Could you site anything other than Wikipedia that could be slightly more credible towards this theory?

I fear we will never know the truth about this. At least not in our lifetimes. We may make the picture a little clearer, but I doubt we will ever be able to prove this. However, that doesn't make me believe it any less :). I've been playing with the idea that our universe is infinite and the concept of parallel universes for quite some time now, and the possibilities are quite literally endless. In these parallel universes, the very laws of physics might not even be the same as ours. This asserts that somewhere out there, an exact replica of Star Wars, Halo, Avatar, etc. has actually happened. This may just be the nerd in me speaking, but I find that sort of reality thrilling and exciting.

There is more life out there but we just don't have the technology to search for the planets. Though we can use math and the positions of the stars to find planets with earth-like properties.

It's amazing how nearly everyone who has posted hasn't even understood what OP was talking about.

    The problem with these theories,
is that no matter WHAT, it is all just a theory.
None of this will ever be proved or disproved, (unless our species outlasts its own extinction).
