Global Warming: Should we take action?

First, let me say this: This is not a discussion as to whether global warming is happening or not. Secondly, before you reply to this thread, please watch the following video in full: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zORv8wwiadQ

So, after watching the above video, I would like to introduce the following discussion: Regardless of whether global warming is happening or not, should we take action? If we take action and global warming turns out to be a whole bunch of nonsense, we would enter a global depression, amongst other results. If we don't take action and global warming turns out to be true, we have potentially the greatest catastrophe the world has seen. Should we take the chance of the entering said global depression or take the chance of entering the world's greatest catastrophe?

Nah, if it exists it's progressing very slowly. The earth would be better off a few degrees warmer. Before it will effect us negatively earth won't have the recourses to pollute anyway.

Global temperature has risen 1 degree in the past 100 years.

Global Warming: Should we take action?

Yes um, the 'few' degrees temperature change may be virtually nothing in the sunlight, however if you look at the bigger picture it is an extravagant amount.

I don't believe global warming is caused by C02 emissions, but merely just the planets natural warming.

No, we shouldn't take action because we'll waste alot of money.

Al Gore and a bunch of other scientists are cashing out on this AGW scam.

If you have looked at ANY statistics; have ANY detailed understanding of out atmosphere and it's thermostatic nature; know ANYTHING about the reactions between free radicals and ozone - you wouldn't be making such an ignorant and completely fallacious statement such as this.

Global warming is a myth. 'climate change' is really what is happening, we didn't have cars 4,000+ years ago. Climate change is perfectly natural for our planet, we are not destroying it the slightest.

The warming of a few degrees in temperature is not much for day to day life at face value, it's a bit warmer, the beach is nicer etc.

However what you don't see is what really happens to the earth. I cannot remember what happens really, however it's along the lines of shifting ocean currents, rising sea waters to the point where low lying areas are flooded, animals die out due to this especially the ones underwater.
There are a whole host of 'problems' when the temperature of the earth rises a few degrees.

Global Warming: Should we take action?

Global warming has been around since the dawn of man.

The temperature warms, and then falls as we plunge into an ice age. This has repeated since life began and right now, the Earth is going through it's cycle.

We should try to limit the CO2 emissions we expose to the atmosphere, but in terms of any radical decisions, there is not much we should do.

A single large volcano eruption has more of an effect of the earth's climate that the last 1000 years of pollution.

Edit--It may have only been 100 years.

Global Warming: Should we take action?

You want to take action on global warming?
You're going to change the ways of mother nature?
You're going to stop the ice caps from melting and refreeze the ones that have?
    That will be impossible.

The only thing we could do is cut down on air pollution, which may slow down melting, but in today's world you couldn't get enough people to even care.

Adults don't care because it won't effect their lives.
Kids/teens don't care because it won't effect them, or even their kids most likely.

    People just don't care.

It would be impossible to reverse and change our consumption methods to reduce global warming. That would cost incredible amounts of money and time for innovation that no one would want to spend.

Global Warming: Should we take action?

Actually we would benefit more then it would harm us. There's so much land on the earth that isn't used because it's to cold there.

I really don't think there would be doubt that enough glaciers on land would melt to even raise the ocean an inch.

You don't understand that the worst case scenario with global warming is the entire extinction of the human race.
