Poll: The Paranormal?

If you're referring to heaven, this has nothing to do with religion..

 

hmmmm an argument based on emotions, one-time accounts and gut feelings. is this really in the SFA section?

 

Does paranormal include Aliens, because in that case, yes. I have to believe the it's impossible for nature to defy the astronomical odds that there is a planet with similar, life-sustaining circumstances that Earth has.

If not then I'm not sure right now. My mother and her brothers and parents swore that their childhood home was haunted, so I kind of have to believe her to some degree since I've known her to be sane for 18 years..

 

Until there is legitimate evidence, why should I?

I am a firm nonbeliever. Honestly, it's something I've never understood. The concept behind it is absolutely asinine, and believers tend to disregard scientific fact in exchange for a belief in it, which is just ignorant.The fact of the matter is that people will ALWAYS see what they want to see, and the way the human eyes and mind work together, if the brain expects something to be there, you WILL see it. That's why "ghost encounters" are so prevalent at night. Your brain takes time to register what it's seeing, and when you expect to see a ghost there, your brain will fill in the darkness accordingly.

 

I dont believe in the paranormal because I have never encountered anything paranormal other than watching the movies.

 

ive had some experiences but there is always logical explanations to them, or maybe i just convince myself there is just to keep me from tripping out, who knows? paranormal could be classifed as devils and angels and yes i believe in those but im not sure about ghosts and stuff.

 

It would be ignorant to say it's not possible, since the creation of the Earth itself is a miracle so yeah, it's possible.

totally. My dads house (a family house, we've owned the lot for 82 years) has a lot of activity, though nothing aggressive or mean. It's most likely our family...lol. Anyways, doors will close if left open while the air conditioner is off (my dad tells me this was a habit of my great grandmaws, who thought it helped keep the rooms cool...), in the sealed off attic, you can sometimes here what sounds like bumping around (this could be explained by a possum or other animal, but it was my grandfathers workshop and when he died, my grandmaws had it sealed off)..if you say outloud what you need cooked, though this is VERY rare activity, te cabinet with the stuff you need will be opened, or the ingredients yOu need will be on the bar. Ok not gunna say every house I live in is haunted, as that seemsto be the only one haha. But yes, I believe.

I can't think of any 'scientific' explanation for them, but it'd be pretty cool if they did exist. Who doesn't like a good chill running down their spine at the thought of ghosts floating around their house?

There is scientific evidence concerning the paranormal as well, you know? I didn't state this had to be about any of the things you listed. Pictures, video, audio, etc does exist that hasn't been tampered with. I believe I have, or my mother has, a picture somewhere around here taken on a little trip to an old mansion we went to...It's clearly a slightly transparent man in a suit. We were the only people in said room, and obviously nobody was wearing a suit in a hundreds of years old mansion we crept in...If I can find it, I'll upload it later.

Could recorded audio and video/pictures be a coincidence? Maybe, but I find it hard to believe a some form of lighting could coincidentally flesh out a detailed humanoid, or that clear audio of speech that sometimes even responds is even possible as a random and coincidental mixing of sounds or whatever way you decide to debunk it as.

Science can't prove or disprove everything, and this is one of those subjects.

 

scientific evidence for the paranormal...... please present me with some.

 

Video footage and audio recordings are scientific to an extent, it's an observable piece of evidence. The only problem is telling whether the footage is doctored or the audio results, faked.

As a side note: Though I give some credit to the paranormal, I believe exorcisms are a sham and I'm tired of all the related movies these days.

 

personally i highly doubt the paranormal exists, its just like everything else, people used to think storms where god punishments just cause they couldent explain rainfall, just because u cant explain it, doesnt mean it has no scientific explanation, but to be honest i wish paranormal stuff was real it would mean there is actually somthing after death which is better than nothing /:
