To end all the controversy over whether or not Photon allows botting now:

Alright. My ticket was responded to. Good news.

I asked them if botting was not allowed or if it is alright as long as you don't request a refund.

Their answer:



So everyone can stop freaking out and shit talking Photon and cancelling their subscriptions. Botting IS allowed.

 

Nah, I've used both and Seerhost is garbage compared to Photon. Running 8 SG bots on Warp 3 and 2 on Seerhost's equivalent plan.

 

There was never any "controversy" merely just one or two impatient clients whom don't know how to bot properly and expect Photonvps to know how to fix them. I have used Photonvps for a long time and never had any problems. Yes he has the power to disable botting altogether, and yes I seen this coming once the uninformed start frauding his company and flooding his system with "bot" tickets everytime reflection/nexus/rsbuddy/rsbot is down. I said before improper usage of ANY provider will force them to change ToS didn't I say that before?
You cancelled a payment after receiving service, usually called fraud in the webhosting world, theres no "try before you buy" advertised and you know very well botting is against runescape ToS, you knew people get away with botting on photon, you purchased and could not run X amount of bots so you de-frauded them? What am I missing.

Let's not slander one provider to gain referrals in another. Even I don't stoop to that level...Just have patience with tickets especially when 99% of the time it's never the provider but the botclient itself. Don't expect them to fix your botting issues, in fact don't use them at all you will ruin it for all other clients.

Try asking for assistance from this thread or whatever resources you can find before asking their customer support system with botting issues. I am pretty sure it's outsourced like alot of web hosting companies.

Yes, I can honestly say when we compared services the warp 3 plan did run more high end bots effectively.



Let me add that Jimmy Lu is an outstanding fellow I know from another forum, he kindly let me run my business on his PhotonVPS' and seeing that his servers were of outstanding quality and well managed I decided to open the doors to the general public and make you aware of a great provider. I mentioned to him the possible problems and he has always been aware of possible reprimands from jagex.
He has sheltered my small growing online botting business more than burstnet did for their clients.(jagex legally made burst net block stuff that messed up their clients botting btw) So yes his threats of going to court were not of him taking you to court over three bots, they were him making you aware that he can get sued so you can run those three puny bots which mean nothing to him, so be thankful he hasn't just shut you down and everyone else for that matter. Jimmy has the right to go ahead and shut down anyone that's a problem botter so don't look at me if you run yourself into problems, referral or not my business is not worth your 3 bots, neither is his.
Simply put don't use PhotonVPS if your going to fraud them/chargeback/submit a ticket about botting/badger their support/be a general ass client. I have no problem helping those who do sign up as they currently provision me 3 vps' and am happy to renew two of those services next month. But if your going to use my referral link understand you WILL not get a refund at all, even if you can't get your own bots don't work properly like everyone else does.

To put it simply Persia, a lot of these people on this website dont know jack shit about webhosting in general that they expect services that ALL hosting companies will not provide.

I.E. dealing with spam tickets, overloading cpu on vps, and blaming photonvps when their bots dont work.

I don't think the guy who originally posted the thread about Photon knew that you weren't allowed to refund if you use bots. How should he know that? You, me, and him don't read the ToS every time we bot. So he didn't know it changed. He couldn't get ACCESS to his VPS. It wasn't a problem with bots, at all.

There is no way you can disagree with my next point. Photon's customer service isn't the best. They do take a while to respond to tickets, and I can understand why people would get frustrated. If someone can't get access to their VPS, and customer support isn't helping, after they have paid, I can see why that person would get angry and request a refund. You would do the same.

It's quite possible that maybe he was just very impatient and acted too quick. But you mentioned multiple times how it was probably just user error in getting the client to work, when in fact the guy couldn't even access his VPS at all.

I find it amusing that you condemn people here because they don't know everything there is to know about VPS, unlike yourself of course. I agree that most of the morons who complain about Photon are just that- morons who don't know how to follow a tutorial or set up a bot. But there are those rare occasions where just MAYBE it's NOT user error and it actually IS Photon's fault? It's obvious that with the Photon banners you guys are going to always back up Jimmy and never admit to them making a mistake, but it happens.

As I've said before, I love Photon and will use them for as long as they are around. They are by far the best VPS company out there.

 

I couldn't agree more. Well put but because of the gap of knowledge that is why I help so much.

Photons customer service ticket system is not the most prompt I agree they can be slow especially when it comes to answering botting issues. I don't think they are 24/7 because I think they outsource some night hours<-unconfirmed. Their engineers level of support and expertise is great server-wise, they just don't know anything about bots lol.

Also about the log in problem I get that too, Just go to solusVN panel reset password and reboot OS. If all else fails submitting a polite ticket will get you rebuilt in no time and they can change root password back to normal as well even the outsourced help. I actually did this yesterday because one of my servers said connection refused. Yes I feel he did act impatiently as well. I'll post this on the guide I wrote as well. I see this as a win-win situation, we are allowed to bot and he does not go through chargebacks. Remember he has to deal with jagex tos and their legal arm too.

If you refer to the "ScammersAreDumb" post you will notice that he is very vague on details so what I am merely referring to is everyone here jumping ship when they don't know the exact details. For example, in his post he starts off with an attack on PhotonVPS and doesn't tell the entire story. If you read further into his post he mentions that his password does not work. If you are experienced with servers this can happen as follows:

1. Forgetting his password
2. PhotonVPS resetting the password (only does so when the client requests it)
3. Getting hacked

So when you outweigh these problems it almost always points to the clients fault. Yes, the provider is there to assist when you have any problems, but it is not THEIR responsibility when you have your own problems.

Next issue,
When addressing if people truly have a problem or aren't following the tutorial, I suggest you use your own judgement. It is apparent to me that ScammersAreDumb's problem arise from his OWN problems and not PhotonVPS', hence why the refund was not honored.

Finally the last issue,
PhotonVPS refund policy:
This refund policy makes sense to me. To simply put you have to think of it from a business stand point as they are running a business, just like most of us here are running black market botting businesses. Think of it this way:

1. Legal position, Jagex does not condone botting and PhotonVPS could get sued for violating various laws (You can look them up, but they are there... I guarantee it.)
2. Botters complaining about stupid issues -- All of these botters here the first thing they do when their bots don't work is that they open a ticket which spams their ticket system.
3. Most issues that arise from botters are NOT VPS related. Yes, you heard me. They're multiple factors that I could list within 10 seconds... CPU overload, Memory overload, incorrect bot settings, all these things are MOSTLY NOT VPS related. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure if you open a ticket and it is TRULY VPS related problem on THEIR end, then I am sure they will refund you accordingly.

From my experience with webhosting, most providers will only refund in the event of downtime, or people who are truly unsatisfied. Providers will not want to provide to botters who whine about stupid issues and want refunds.

Berserk, it is a gray area in terms of a business standpoint, but it is the safest way for them as it could benefit them negatively if they did not choose to update their policy.

Its not slander if its true, and stated by the company/person themselves. I can point you to the exact page were they state that almost all support tickets are answered in under 30 minutes or less. Photon is a decent company. But until they remove the false statement about support tickets or fix the support system to make it true I won't be singing praises about them.

That said, both of the tickets I submitted were completely unrelated to botting (If you bon't beleive me, im willing to back this up with ss's).

 

Hey guys, I purchased a Xen Warp 4 VPS from PhotonVPS about two weeks ago, it was running about 8-9 bots fine up until the recent RS update. I tried re-installing the OS, re-installing everything but it just won't run 8 bots anymore! Does anybody know why? My settings are set to minimum and the CPU usage is very low.

Says I'm only using 2456 of my memory out of 4gb and 2510664 out of 4194304 on my CPU, anybody know the problem? It used to work just fine and I sent tickets in, pretty much tried every possible way to fix this, lowering the xmx or whatever from 1000 to 372, different worlds with lower pings. I still dunno what the problem is, if anyone could direct me in the right direction I would be grateful, thanks guys.

 

Just need to clear this up, on my warp 3 Photon VPS it says in -m that I'm not eating into the SWAP which is fine.

Although on -cpu it says I have 12536 free, yet it's using 36 out the SWAP.

Is this an issue I need to address? I don't want to be eating anymore CPU/Memory off the VPS as I know running bots is intensive as it is and we're lucky Photon allow it.

I'd just like to thank Persia and the other members who actively contribute on this thread, helping people constantly, even with the same questions over and over again. It means a lot, thank you.

 

Yea thanks to everyone for taking their time in this thread and helping sythe out. I would really wish that people would stop "arguing" over which company is better or why Photon is disliked but I guess everyone has their opinion/bias :S

 

Is photonVPS still allowing runescape bots cuz I've heard in every RS cheating community websites that they are banning the use of botting.

Yes they are still allowing botting, it's been stated in this thread various times. They will allow RsBots, although they will not refund those who use the service then try and chargeback the money. Which is 100% understandable.

 

I have the same problem with the same vps, but i think it's the RSBots.net client's fault, as after the livid update, they haven't been working good for me, although BradstaG says that there's no problem at the bot's site,i think the problem is there on RSBots.net...

 

Yes PhotonVPS allows botting still.

Same problem since the livid update but only on a hazenet, my two warp 4's are running 8 bots each fine, one is running 9 but I decided to try rsbuddy which is surprisingly less resource usage then nexus.


If anyone has a problem or question with a VPS I will gladly help, as I will try to stay on track and on topic here.

Can someone point me to a VPS that accepts PayPal that isn't Photon?

 

Guys I ran Perf's atofight on my vps last night and when in the gui and i was setting up the lootlist I would search for the items to loot and the gui did nothing. Like the search function didn't work. Therefor I couldn't do anything for loot, or banking, pot support etc. Anyboyd have this same problem or know a work around?
