Toms a day without shoes

Well, today is Tom's "a day without shoes" day. It's where you go around not wearing shoes, and I guess if Tom's notices, they donate one pair of shoes to a kid in Africa for every one person who's taking part.

Long story short, around 20 people in my school are suspended now. I think it's hilarious. Obviously what they're trying to do, is nice and all, but is Tom's going to go around and watch everyone who's not wearing shoes?

Anyone here participate? I personally think my school floors are way too dirty to walk around bare foot.

 

I might have tried if I knew about it before now but the days over so why start. Nobody I've talked to said anything about it either. That's a good Idea though because most people have probably never even thought about it.

 

People got suspended for that?

A few kids did it in my school, but nothing much happened as the teachers knew about it. Getting suspended sounds pretty absurd to be honest.

Saw this one facebook and didn't feel like participating. A girl in my school tried to con me into doing it and then she got yelled at by one of my teachers for walking without shoes on.

And unlucky for those people that got suspended >.<

 

Shoe company, who have always been well known for donating shoes to the poor. Their entire slogan is "one for one". Every shoe that you buy, one is donated to the poor.

 

It's a good thing 'Tom's' company donates. There are plenty of kids in need of shoes and education primarily.

 

20 kids suspended? Screams an underfunded government school.

Would've participated in this if I didn't have sport today.

 

Doesn't this company send a pair of shoes overseas for every pair they sell?

My brother in law swears by these shoes. They are actually pretty good footwear from what I've heard.

 

lol, if you did that in my school you'd be suspended.... you get in trouble for ripped jeans...

 

I hope they do this again, after thinking about it I really wish I could spread this idea around and get people to do it with me.

To be honest, if you want to help kids get shoes, instead of wasting $50 on a pair of shoes to only give one kid a pair of shoes, use that $50 to make about 100 pairs of shoes for kids. Whoever makes/invented TOMS shoes is a fucking genius. The shoes he sells probably costs about a dollar to manufacture.
