[denied] Make having sythe username mandatory when selling accounts

No support. This does not change anything. People wanting to scam will just continue.

 

It's a nice idea but scammers would simply fake the screenshots.

The only other way I could see out of this is a "mod verified" option where someone could have a staff member verify that the RS account they are selling they do actually own with that name / stats. Though there will be questions as whether this "account verification" service should be paid, plus do staff have time to do this? Finally, you could still verify an RS account with said name and still scam anyway, so all it would prove is the account they are selling they have proven exists, but not that they could still plan to scam you.

 

That's true people would fake screenshots, I have not said scammers won't but .... There are more then just people like Wortel who are Scammer detectives on here that can spot an edit easily... and 90% of the sellers in the account section look at other accounts posted so if they were to see an edit they would report it as well. as to Kanye's poor edit.... the account is wearing void, you need 42 attack / strength in order to wear it... so it either shows he's ignorant or low IQ. So I am sure 99% of Sythe could see that is edited.

That suggestion of "mod verified" is intriguing, wouldn't exactly need "mod" status per say but even members with "Account Verifier" that can ask on threads to meet in game to verify said account on the thread. I'm sure there's at least a few people who would be willing to go for that.

It is what it is, just seems either the lazy ones are against it.... or the ones who have multiple selling threads and posting generic stat screenshots as their proof of ownership. oh well let the scammers keep scamming i guess and have a new report posted about needing an account verified weekly

 

I dont get it? I mean I get that these photos can be faked but it just adds another "step" a potential scammer has to go through. It seems the site gets scammed on so much no body bats an eye anymore, its not worth it to anyone (or no one cares enough) to add minuscule amount more work for account sellers? It doesnt even effect the sellers that have you join their discord. Its kind of sad that sythe isnt doing everything in their power to stop scammers.. I would feel safer from these screenshots so I support.

 

Its like telling google (or whoever supplies/buys captcha services), people can make bots that are able to complete their captcha, might as well not update them every one in a while or just stop the captcha completely.

 

They're just lazy is all it is lol, can go ahead and close this cause all the mod has proven is they're terrible at editing a photo.

 

I'd potentially say make it a screenshot from the mobile client
Which isn't as easily edited as one from runelite

The "verified by (Authorised verification entity)" makes even more sense if you ask me.
That sounds like the most foolproof method. Does require volunteers tho.
