    Short term memory improvement

    Short term memory!

Hello! And welcome to my 6th guide :)
Today I will be giving some tips on how to improve your short term memory.

You may ask yourself, "why do I need to improve my short term memory?" well here's why.

Improving your short term memory will help you in all aspects of your life. It will help you remember:
    • What you studied for a test
    • Where you left your keys, phone, etc.
    • Appointments, meetings, dates and places to be
    • The names of new people you have met
    • And many other important things in your life

So, how do you improve your memory? Simply follow the steps!

    Step 1. - Sleep.
Getting enough sleep can play a crucial role in how your short term memory functions. If you aren't getting enough sleep your brain isn't functioning properly, thus you are unable to remember or recall important dates, times, faces and general knowledge you have gained.

    Step 2. - Relax!
It's pretty hard to remember things when you are stressed out (if not impossible). So when you are studying, in class or doing anything that you want to remember later take a moment, calm your body and relax. Clear your mind and let everything sink in, keep your thoughts focused on what you're doing.

Step 3. - Exercise your memory regularly.
Take some time once a day or even once a week to exercise your memory. This can be done through memory games (many can be found on google from just a quick search *Click here*). You can also exercise your memory by learning new things that you aren't use to, for example if you spend your spare time doing things on the computer you could learn to draw.

    Step 4. - Food & Water.
Studies have shown that eating the right foods and drinking lots of water can actually improve your short term memory. The food you eat should contain the following; tiamin, folic acid and b12 viatmin. Some examples of foods that contain these are; bread, cereal, vegetables and fruit.

Step 5. - Avoid Alcohol, Smoking & Caffeine.

Alcohol: It's proven that alcohol diminishes short term memory, which in turn interferes with your learning of new information and the ability to retain that new information.

Smoking: As most of you will probably already know, smoking lowers the amount of oxygen that is able to flow to the brain. When less oxygen is able to reach the brain this can interfere with and damage your short term memory.

Caffeine: Although it is true that caffeine enriched drinks such as pop and energy drinks increases your ability to maintain attention and combats sleepiness. It is also true that it was interfere with your short term memory, making it harder to remember what you just learned.

Informative :) though I suggest you try to change your font to something less dark as I found I had trouble reading it in contrast to the background.
