Do you have to love family?

Yes, I do.

 

I love my parents, reasons for this are:
- They were the ones that brought me up
- They're the ones that have always been supporting me and I know that they will carry on supporting me throughout my life
- They're the ones that try to make my life easy and enjoyable for me, whatever it takes

This is my defintion of love: When you respect, admire and thank someone for who they are and what they've done for you, I think when you love someone you'd sacrifice everything you've got for them, even your own life, I love my family because I'd sacrifice everything to keep them happy.

You know the saying " You don't know what you have until you've lost it. ", I personally have gone through some rough times with my family, I might've said something along the lines of "I hate you.", maybe at the time I did, but later on when I reflect on that I know deep down that I didn't really mean it.
I also love my family because it hurts me to see any of them upset or hurt.

I don't know about others, but in my situation and almost any other situation I can think of it is hard not to love your family. Considering all the selfless things that all parents do.

I do, my parents have given me so much, and whatever happens I will ultimately love them. The point that you should because your Mum went through so much pain to conceive you is irrelevant. Unless she was raped she was consenting enough to have a child, without wanting to abort.

 

As stated above, you dont need to 'love' or 'respect' anyone you don't wish to. However, i was thankfully raised by 2 loving parents that were willing to take me to sporting commitments and spend money on me. If they raised you well I don't see why there is no reason to love them.

If they abused you, or treated you like shit your life I could imagine you not loving your parents because there doing that to you, although I feel that if you are not fit enough to raise children, don't raise them at all.

I really depends on the conditions that you have been brought into, to determine weather you must love or not. (i.e. child abuse)

I had a decent upbringing, loving parents, but they never showed it that much, they gave me alot of money, and gave me less attention, they never directly told me they loved me.

But I know they do, and I love them.

I would say that even if you don't love your family, you will feel some emotional bond no matter what. Saying you don't care or aren't concerned with that is a lie to yourself and ignoring it won't make it go away.

Yes, if they went out of their way to raise you properly, you certainly need should love them, if not that, at least appreciate them....
