    Video Games An Addiction

I was addicted to WoW for 3+ years like it says in my sig.

400 days of gametime played in ~1215 days.

That's roughly 1/3 of my life for 3 1/2 years just sitting on WoW, and I played Bioware RPG games when they came out too along with MW2 and Black Ops.

    God it was horrible.

Last year I was pretty into WoW. I was in the top guild on my server, and ranked worldwide. I wouldn't skip school or meals, but my sleep pattern was extremely messed up and it most definitely affected my grades.

I most definitely regret it looking back and would never do it again. I now limit myself, and barely play MMO's. I find FPS also addicting, but they aren't to the scale of WoW, I'm sure anyone who has played WoW gets what I'm saying too.

I'm failing to understand what people classify as an addiction. Personally I do anything for a long period of time if it has my attention. I play world of warcraft at least 7 hours a day that DOES NOT make me addicted in the slightest. Watching TV for 6+ hours can be an addiction if you put it in that category as well as people who play basketball for 5+ hours everyday.

I have been really addicted to super smash bros games before would always play it all the time and of course with lots of other people/friends as well. I got kicked off football because instead of going to the game I would go home and play it haha people got pissed but I got them high to make up for it and taught them to skate. Luckily this phase only lasted for about 4 months I would say.

Also of course Runescape is the most addicting game ever for me nothing can beat how addicting it is and how many hours I have spend playing it...at least now im not addicted but back then oh shit...so yeah 2 games basically.

Right now Runescape is the only game I am currently playing and putting time to. Dont own a xbox/ps3 and I do have a wii that I only play with my younger cousins, siblings etc time to time

I don't think there is a word for the addiction I have with Black Ops.

Depends, console games or pc games...

    Pc games == addictoin
console games != addiction, I think console gaming is more of a lifestyle

But yea, I used to be pretty hardcore addicted to rs in middleschool

    That is generally incorrect.

I thought SFA was about rational thought out answers and questions?

Please go back to school and learn the proper word for addiction. Watching TV for 6 hours a day is something to pass the time, playing basketball for 5 hours a day is to have fun or practice, but this thread was made for people that where actually addicted to video games and to the point where it affected their lives in some way cause all they wanted to do is play video games. Next time think before you post!

2004-2010 was the worse years of my life in terms of gaming. I just lost interest and now I enjoy socializing and just use sythe to chat.

the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma

Thats an addiction. Watching Tv for 6 hours and playing a video game for 6 hours is the same thing in a nutshell. I was under the impression the SFA section was for well thought out debates not posting what people believe to have enslaved them.

Ive in-fact thought and read before I posted maybe you should of done the same.

FYI It doesn't matter if YOU consider playing basketball for 5-6 hours a day everyday as practice or fun the same can be said about video games.

I don't get how you can say playing WoW 7 hours a day and not being addicted in the same sentence.

I've played WoW A LOT in my time and I know what it's like, if you're playing that much in a day you most definitely are addicted.

There is a line between for entertainment and addiction, although it is pretty rough and general, nearly spending half of your day on one thing is over on the addiction side, not the for fun side.

You have no idea what you're are talking about so please stop making yourself look foolish. The people that were addicted needed to play a certain amount of hours a day or they feel shitty. Unless you need to play basketball for 5-6 hours a day and need to watch tv for 6 hours a day that is not an addiction that is just passing the time, aka leisure time.

Are you dumb or just can't read? I play world of warcraft 6 hours or more a day and I am not addicted. Your associating time spent with addiction, your giving video games and tv separate categories when in a nutshell its exactly the same thing.

Also flying toast I'm most certainly not addicted you can't tell if I am or not just from my time spent online.
