I would totally vote for an athiest. People who believe in God are just dumb.
There's a guy in the sky who can magically make things happen. And if you're a naughty little boy, he sends you to hell where you will burn for eternity and intense pain!.... But he loves you!

This entire statement is ignorance at it's finest. You obviously do not understand the definition of moral.

    moral (mor·al) -
    • involving right and wrong: relating to issues of right and wrong and to how individual people should behave
    • derived from personal conscience: based on what somebody's conscience suggests is right or wrong, rather than on what rules or the law says should be done
    • according to common standard of justice: regarded in terms of what is
known to be right or just, as opposed to what is officially or outwardly declared to be right or just

To think that an Atheist can have no morality is just stupid. If this were true, every Atheist would be out murdering, raping, and stealing. Is this the case? Obviously not. There is no conclusive way to test how rational someone is but if you think about it, somebody who does not have a God agenda on his mind can focus more on what he/she is supposed to be doing for his country. He/she wouldn't have gotten to be a presidential candidate if their interest was not for their country, so you can't fall back on that to support your half baked argument.

"The concept of separation of church and state refers to the distance in the relationship between organized religion and the nation state."

The above speaks for itself, religion should have no part of government and should not influence why you vote for someone. There have been plenty of religious people go off and do terrible things. Religion does not automatically make anybody into a better person. Your own personal choices make you who you are.

    I completely agree to this.

Imagine if this was a debate/fight, and we have 2 sides.. Religious and Atheism.

Religion has: God, Santa, the easterbunny, the grinch, etc etc.
    Atheism has: Logic and science.

Maybe you should take some of your own advice, seeing as an unproven and undefined being cannot give you anything, you give yourself free will if you want to, and yes i have read the bible, excuse me for not remembering every single quote there is, have a read, heres some evidence, god was okay with slavery, and even selling your daughter as a sex slave.

Also you call "God" he? where in the Bible is "God" given a gender? Educate yourself.

This is where I think The US sucks, they judge someones ability to be a politician on their faith, It doesnt matter if he was muslim, christian, Athiest, Agnostic, whatever, none of those should have any kind of role to see if he's a formidable politician.

Would you vote for an atheist?

I voted yes, but some of the reasons mentioned are biased and very narrow-minded.

Someone said "on average that atheists think more clearly" or smth like that.
I don't think anyone should be voting for someone because of what the stereotype for the "group" of ppl he/she is in. Stereotypes do NOT apply to everyone; making a decision like that is very unreasonable.

    This kinda irritated me
Well first of all...the fact that you think so narrow-minded-ly(not a word i know) of ppl is sad...how the fuck can u conclude that atheists have no moral standard just cuz god doesnt exist to them/us? so believing in god gives u morals? does it come with a happy-meal? cuz i might have to think bout gettin me one...
basically u shouldnt even be allowed to vote if u judge ppl on what their stereotype is...this is prly how bush got elected..."high school football star, harvad graduate, handsome" stereotypes!! high school football stars only want one thing: pussy! harvard graduate: he had Cs! handsome: maybe 95 yrs ago

aight i went a bit off topic but watev

Would you vote for an atheist?

I would vote for an atheist if they had good political views. If not no, I don't see why you wouldn't, I would see less bias in an atheist than a "believer"

Would you vote for an atheist?

It isn't totally like that, but just like the poll shows AT LEAST 10% of people wouldn't vote for an atheist and that makes it a disadvantage to be an atheist running for president.

Would you vote for an atheist?

Polls of American potential voting adults have about 50% saying they would not under any circumstance vote for an atheist. Thats even more than will never vote for a homosexual.

Would you vote for an atheist?

    Well yes, why not.
Religious people should respect other people's beliefs.
Faith and belief shouldn't be a defining factor of elections
