Video Games An Addiction

I have been through so many phases in my life, but the video game phase was the worst! I was so addicted to games at one point in my life I would stay home or even skip school to play. I would also never go out, skipped meals, and showered less. Now that I'm older and look back at this behavior it sickens me and kind of reminds me of a drug addict or alcholic to certain extent. These days I still enjoy video games, but I go out and spend a very lot of time with my girlfriend. Did you ever have an addiction this bad to video games?

 

Definitely yes. My biggest addiction was in middle school. I was BEYOND addicted to Everquest. I skipped school for several days at a time just to sit at home and play.

 

I was addicted to many games, right now I'm just addicted to being online.

 

Middle school was probably the worst for me as well, super addicted to Runescape, but then again it was the best as a lot of the people I knew in real life played. (I was 100% legit, using no bots so you could see how much time I spent online..)

I used to not shower as frequently but I've been showering every day for the last few years.

Runescape is probably the only main addiction to any video game I've ever had..

 

Yeah, league of legends hooked me. I literally played 8 hours+ per day and whenever someone talked to me when I was playing, I didn't respond. I was that absorbed. It's a good thing I uninstalled at my climax of addiction, or I would have gone crazy. Lol.

LoL is a good game though, one of my favorites. Lately I haven't even had the time to play many games... Been too busy with Work/RL/Sythe.

I work 12 hours a day, Any free time I have, I'm either out or on sythe lol. I try to play RIFT but get distracted and get stuck doing spam reports or doing a MM or something haha.

 

yes, i find runescape a really addictive game aswell as minecraft.

When i was younger I used to take days of school to play runescape.

 

Now that I think of it my the climax of my addiction was middle school to early high school. It went in this order Diablo, Socom, Runescape, Call of Duty, and Halo. I went through a phase when I got Xbox 360 where I wanted to get 100% done every game, but that is gone as well! Great discussion so far guys keep it up

 

I have never had a addiction to get 100% in every game like you stated. I was more addicted to being 'the best'. Like i'd play call of duty 4 and make sure i'd just get better and better and better. I was never addicted to any offline games, probably only the sims and minecraft.

 

I forgot about Call of Duty ^_^ All my game addictions are online, offline blows

 

Now that I've grown up I realize all the time I wasted, yes.

 

I play neopets and tf2.

Personally I would say no.


I use a games as a way of keeping out of trouble IRL. My parents have tried to revoke my 'game' time and I just go out with my mates, no big deal.

I have never skipped school over everything, and currently during my 2 most important years of school am getting A's across the board in my designated subjects.

Yes once upon a time Halo 2 sucked me in badly...5 hours or so a day each and every day....glad I finally got my 360 out of my house tbh.

 

As a kid I used to be really addicted to videogames, I would play them for at least 5 hours a day even on school nights and my grades really suffered because of it. Now, im in college and I still play videogames, but not nearly as much as i did before.

 

I wouldn't say severe, but I played a lot. Sometimes 18 hours a day.

 

The only time I am "addicted" to a game is when it that games first comes out and I like the game. I probably average 5 to 8 hours a day playing them but only for the first few days.

But they never get in the way of my everyday life.

I would say that watching TV is a bigger problem than playing to much with video games.

 

I had an addiction similar to this, and I feel it has somewhat ruined my chances of fulfilling my dream.
At the time, I didn't take school seriously, didn't take football seriously yet I was still at a high level (if I'd taken it seriously, who knows, I could be somewhere by now) and all I thought about was the game(s) in question.

However now, even though I do play video games, I am so much more mature about it, and I can monitor and control myself completely.
