Why do you believe in God?

god was "made" in people's mind to control the population, if people dont belive that theyll be judged for their acts, they will not care about doing the "right" thing, and they might even think theres no right or wrong thing.
Well, I do belive in God.

 

I'm unsure how the universe came into existence (though the multiverse hypothesis is worthy of recognition), and I won't hesitate to admit that. Invoking god is no explanation at all, and the fact that you are unable to account for his existence in the first place quite clearly demonstrates this point.

 

Explaining how the universe came into being is not credible. It is just as likely that God created it unless you make assumptions. A creator who created the universe is just as reasonable an example as a multiverse.

 

Summary : Nobody knows how the hell the universe got here. Could have been anything, maybe god, maybe something else. We all find out when we die. End of story.

EDIT : Really pisses me off that people argue about this. NOBODY knows, and we most likely never will know. Guess we have to see what happens when we die right? But I'm guessing that starts a whole nother argument, since nothing happens when you die. I'll go be a tree now.

You can NEVER know anything. Claiming this just means that nothing will ever happen. Claiming this is the cheap way out. Choose what you believe and justify it.

 

Scientifically speaking Energy cannot be destroyed. Its here and it was always here.

Is God This Enormous amount of Energy I don't know.
#1 Throughout my life God has been a factor.
#2 Praying, Truly changed my life.
#3 That Unexplainable Feeling when something good happens and you know it has to be god.

 

I believe we're forgetting Pascal's Wager

 

There are thousands if not millions or billions of gods and thousands of religions. It could be entirely true that no one has ever chosen the right religion. This means that you have an infinity small chance to choose the right god which means Pascal's wager is pointless.

 

heres my input, i believe in God because it makes me feel comfortable. It feels like someone is watching me everywhere i go. Around 95% of my friends i know are atheist, but that doesn't stop me.

I may bit a bit more agnostic than a true Christian however. But i do believe something out there is watching over me.

 

I honestly have no problem with that.

 

I believe in God because I like the idea that I have a purpose and I was created for a reason. It gives me more of a reason to live than just being a random assortment of carbon atoms.

 

What about all the new born babies dieing of aids and starvation around the world? What is their purpose?

 

I don't mean to add more wood to the fire, but....If a benevolent force such as God exists, that would make it possible for a malicious one too as well. Arguing that God doesn't exist because there is bad in the world is a flawed argument, because there are good AND evil forces.

 

Well what is the evil force in this scenario? Satan?

Think about this.. the existence of "god" was MADE UP in the old old old olden days when they didn't know what the fuck lightning, thunder rain or snow was. People than started developing theories such as demons.. god etc.. obviously demons having stuff to do with the bad and and god to do with the good. So this guy jospeh comes a long and writes a book to get rich and starts writing about this baby named jesus. Maybe joseph was related to jesus? Was he? I don't know anything about the bible. If he was than it makes sense for him to promote his baby of being god's son. So he wrote about it got rich and it gave people a reason to live and hope. People who aren't strong usually rely on this god guy to be there for him because you know why? it gives them hope and something to live for. Seriously i don't understand why people can believe this stupid god shit, but hay.. who gives a fuck? It's living off something false and worshiping something that you only read in books that was written 83498238 years ago.
I bet if i lived back than and wrote a book saying niggers were born from black cats and black cats are evil EVERYONE would believe it. like.. get real.. this is life.. not a fantasy.

I'm not hating on anythone, but i know a lot of people who belive in god in my life and this one chick pours vinegar in corners of her house to fend of the "evil spirites" because " god told her to" .. I just cant bare to watch and I feel sorry for people who heavily worship him. And you know what makes me even more mad? when people constantly talk about it and try and make you believe it.. they must think they get a first class ticket and some golden beer in heaven if they do or something..

Bottom line.. i don't believe.

I personally believe in God for many reasons, but I like to think that the relationships and love we experience in this cruel and unforgiving world will mean something after our painful existence is relinquished.

 

i will care if god care me enough
