    1.5 Mbps Versus 10 Mbps

Well guys I was wondering what type of an effect this would have on my internet, currently I have major problems connecting to xbox live matches with friends and my internet goes out quite a bit, I got a new router and modem from dlink and set it up but I'm still having problems, so I looked at the internet. The average Mbps in my area is 12 Mbps and I currently have only 1.5! Then I looked and saw it's 130$/month for tv, internet and phone, including starz and hbo + sports. My current is 160$/month for all that and the internet is not even 1/5 of the other plan. The problem is the cancellation fee is 200$, should I change or no, sort of low on money the cancellation fee will have me eating mcdonalds for the rest of the month.

    I would say yes.
watch out though because alot of the time those are just 12mo promotional offers, then the price jumps up.

I have 4mbps, yet I need more. I'd live happy with a DC internet speed of 1GB through multiple providers, like level3 to start.

Honestly Xbox Live doesn't take up that much bandwidth. I don't think you'll see an incredibly noticeable difference in your match quality. If you're having trouble connecting to friends it's most likely your NAT, not your connection. If you don't know how to open your NAT, there are guides all over the internet. Google it.

The hell are you talking about?

I know how to open my NAT yet it closes ~2-3 minutes afterwards.

I am also from the UK and the maximum I can get in my area is 1mbps, no matter what the provider (3 different companies have told me the same thing). Fibre Optic is also not yet available in my area.. Damn I am jealous..

You're probably not doing something right. It sounds like your Xbox has a dynamic IP so whenever you get a new IP all the ports you forwarded are most likely not applied to that IP. You're supposed to give your Xbox (and your PC if you plan on opening the NAT for it, too) a static IP so that the settings will be saved.

I really can't think of any other reason why or even how your NAT would close itself other than that.

$160? The fuck? Phone bills are like $20, TV is like $30, internet is like $25 (for the speed you're getting, maybe $15). How in the world does that add up to $160? Seriously you're getting scammed bro
