Add an "Urgent" selection box to reports

I agree on your identifying the problem that some scam/spam reports are ignored for too long. However, this is not the way to fix it.

 

I think there is too much room for abuse.

 

good idea but people would abuse it unknowingly. also it would just put other reported posts to the bottom of this list taking a while to get to them with the amount of urget reports that would be coming through

 

I hope you mean you post 50-100 spam, not scam reports.
As that would be abusing the RaS scammer section.

And yes, I have gone through the RaS, I've even helped Gohan go through them a few times.

However, to get on with your point.
The reports that are going unanswered in the RaS section(Days with no reply by a moderator) are the ones that are missing key information, not posted correctly, have NO pictures and have NO proof. If people deem that their RaS thread is 'urgent,' as you call it, then they should take the extra few minutes to get the correct information to warrant a ban.

The Spammer reports are very easy for the moderators to go through. They read the title, and sometimes go to the thread, and if the post was irrelevant to the title or off topic, it's good for a delete/infraction.

 

Actually, the way most of us read reports is we do a search of our name in the Report a Spammer section. It brings up a list of all reports that we have the ability to deal with. We then start from the bottom and work our way up, until we run our of reports or sanity.

 

If you have something urgent PM Gohan or Kero, those two are the fastest mods i've dealt with.

 

I post that many spam reports (exaggeration, but i did post ~100 this weekend)
It's not abuse, that's what it's for.
And to correct your point, spam reports don't get filed back for content. They're looked at in sequential order.

Exactly, and how are you to know if one of the middle ones is urgent?

Re-read the first line in my other post, you have a typo and you put you file 50-100 SCAM reports a day, not SPAM.
Just never mind that point.

If you report something, and all the moderator does it ban the account, simply re-report the same post (that has a virus/phisher) and request to get the link removed.
Or simple report as "Virus/keylogger- remove link aswell"
They always remove links when I do that.

 

I didn't search my name, I just looked at every report in the section just in case I needed to temp ban a user whom posted in a section I couldn't Moderate in; but the last bit is true

Any notifications that would be attached to a report would not be needed. Mods check reports regularly and all at once. If this feature was to be used, it would only save about 5 minutes of reaction time(Which tbh, aren't needed because the users post on the thread and deem it a dangerous link so others won't click on it).

 

That 5 minutes is where our opinions differ.

Hmm. I half support and half disagree.
Support because it's be a good idea for phishing links etc.
Disagree because people would abuse it and then would make more work for mods having to infract every person that abuses it.

I think another idea could be that only specific types of Sythe members would be able to use it, e.g 250+ posts or 1 month+ join date or something along those lines. Because the sorts of people that have those statistics usually have at least a little bit of care for their Sythe account and wouldn't want an infraction.

 

I'm still partial on this. I'm seeing more negative than positive, and the reason is obvious for negativity:
Abuse.
If a way of avoiding abuse can be found, I believe this to be a great idea, but other than that, we'll see.

The reason for the negativity is not just for one potential harm of the suggestion. It's because, when weighing the pros and cons of implementing this, it obviously comes out to an inappropriate ideal that wouldn't do much good.

If something is so urgent, PM us. We are required to seldom be on "hidden" mode for this reason, meaning every moderator who is online can be found in the bottom of the homepage. Our names are colorful for extra ease. PMs are dealt with "urgently", whereas reports are dealt with at our convenience. The average report life in the RS section is probably 2-3 hours.

Don't get your hopes up about an admin review. The general consensus is enough for an admin not to have to step in and just beat the dead horse.

 

A good way to get to the urgent reports is deal with all spam reports with 2+ replies first...as long as you can do them of course.

 

The RS section gets like 2-5 reports an hour; I've never had over a page of spam reports in my 2 months as a mod there. Once I pull up all the RS reports, it takes like 5 minutes tops to do them all. This is a good idea for market reports, though.
