If you want rune prices to go up, do this:

Add an offer in G.E. to buy that type of rune for 1gp each. Invest all of your money into it. (Example: 50 million law runes for 50 million gp)

They will not buy, because nobody would sell for that low anyway :p

This will create a massive demand for the runes that outweighs the supply, which will cause the price to skyrocket (if tons of people do it).

Basically, you are putting your money in a safe place while making even more money from runecrafting! Hooray :D

    Oh, and... you're welcome ;)

Never heard of this. Probably not true. I'm almost positive the item has to sell for the price to go up. Hence before free trade when phats were unable to be sold for their true value, VERY few of them sold on the GE therefore the price very very very rarely updated on them.

I doubt the GE would be that easy to manipulate.

The price you are offering for the laws probably factors into how their price changes.

Are you stupid? Jagex calculates trade value based on market trades... If you bought 50 million law runes for 1 gp ea. It would drive the price of law runes down. Idiot...

He doesn't expect them to buy @ 1 GP.

He's trying to create an 'artificial demand' and quite frankly I doubt it would work. His mentality being 'tons of buyers = higher price'

    Yeah, i realize that.

He basically took the Law of Supply and Demand and applied the theory and completely ignored the monetary aspect of it.

This won't work, as stated by the above posters mentioned. Thanks for trying anyway :|

The law of demand states that the quantity demanded for an item is inversely related to its price, ceteri peribus.

^ Wouldn't it be directly related? Like if more people demanded then the price would be higher.

Also, the GE market price is based off of the prices the items buy/sell at. If everyone has offers in for 1gp they're neither buying nor selling, and it doesn't effect the price. Even if this did drive the price up, it would be manipulation and the true price that the runes buy at wouldn't reflect the market price.

Its related to how much people demand it...

His idea might work but you need atleast 100 ppl in on it.

    100 x 50,000,000 = 5B

When people try to sell at ge for mid price and no1 buys... they are gonna lower it.. and lower it. then some stupid mofo will attempt to put it at 1gp per law and he will actually sell his 5000 laws for 5k..

    its all economics..

    It probably has..

Did anyone see the day when bronze arrows went up to 6k per arrow?

It doesnt show on the GE graph for some reason but im pretty sure some members of our community where on when it happened -.-

so much demand little or no supply = sky rocketed prices..

I'm pretty sure the consensus there was that it was just a bug of some sort.

I didnt really think it was a bug cause.. its runescape.. GE isnt that new. Its been out for ages now..

Im pretty sure they would have fixed anything by now which is old such as GE.

But if you were on then u saw the price dropping so much...

every1 was selling them on ge at such a high price.

no1 was going to pay that much for the arrows so the demand went down and supply continued to increase..

then the price reached equilibrium again and they sold for what ? 10gp?

This will not work. The market prices go Up and Down based upon how much money the item is sold for. For example, let's say a law rune costs 200GP. If you put in an offer to buy a law rune for 190GP, and someone sells it, the price will drop. If you put in to buy for 210GP and someone sells it, the prices will go up. What you are suggesting will have no effect to the market whatsoever.

If this actually works, that'd be too easy. People would take too much advantage of it perhaps a similar strategy could be used but I (as most people on this thread do) highly doubt this would actually work.

No offense but this just wouldn't work. This will not raise the value of runes at all.
