What Type Of Programming is used for xbox 360 and PS3 game ?

I have been doing load's of thinking about career's and stuff that intrest's me and to be honest the only thing i can think of is Gaming.

I know Gaming is not an easy step to make as getting into the Gaming Industry will be super hard, but if i were to get into to it, what type's of programming would be needed ?

Im lacking lot's of experience with the developing stage's of game's but i have ton's of play time across lot's of console's from Playstation and xbox, PC and hand held PSP and DS

Im a huge gaming fan and would love to get on the other end of the stick and learn programming or graphic design..

If not then i have my application paper's for the army ready

 

Being good at playing games will not make you good at making them C# is mostly used in Microsoft(XBOX and PC games) as well as C. It's not easy to to be a game developer; you will need a lot of programming experience.

C++ is the predominant language, XNA uses C#, also C in some places. It depends on the needs of the system.

But to be honest, working in the game industry is like working for high end google; it would be pretty awesome, but what are the chances?

 

With all respect, you'd have to be one dedicated motherfucker to achieve this goal. That's not to say you shouldn't chase it up, but believe me, I've tinkered with this kind of stuff numerous times and you're going to need years and years of learning to have any chance.

If you genuinely want to do this, then you're going to have to take up programming with more intent than just games; you need to understand programming on every level that applies, therefore you need to understand what you're doing with the language. You can't just pick up a language and learn ONLY what is required for the game code. So you'll need to get in to programming with a mindset of wanting to be a programmer, not a games developer.

You need a LOT of patience. You need to be at peace with the fact that it will take YEARS, and that you will need to stay focused on actual learning rather than practical application development. If you're genuinely interested, then take programming courses at a school or university, make programming your hobby, learn from programming forums online, read articles pertaining to computers, and so on. You won't understand it at first, but after a few years you'll come to understand the better part of everything.

I was programming since 6th grade. I'm not really a programmer any more, I'm a musician and I have a passion for teaching and languages. But I made programming a hobby because of sites like this, because I wanted to help myself play a game. Ironic, in a sense. You can let games be your inspiration, but don't expect to be making them in the first few years at least. Make it your hobby, make it your passion, stay focused and dedicated, and on task to learning. If you can do that, then kudos and good luck.

 

Being the best programmer in world doesn't make you good at creating games, there is so much more to it that programming.

 

To make a game, you need images, know alot of codes. Not even Bill Gates could make a high end game alone. It takes literally a team to make a decent game.
