    Shaving Pubic Area

I have recently shaved my pubic area, I don't know why I did it, it just seems a good idea and something new to try at the time.
Well I now highly regret doing it..
The itching is unbearable, I don't want to be walking around all day with y hand down my pants itching my ballsack all day.

Do you guys have any GOOD methods of relieving this extreme itchiness and could you please tell me how long it will last?
I basically only did it a few hours ago, used razor and applied moisturiser afterwards.

Coming from a dude that shaves everything, I've never had a bad experience with shaving (other then minor razor burn) You just need to trim it with an eletric shaver, and then get a gillet razor (you don't want to use a cheap razor in these types of areas) and shave over it, untill you can literally feel baby smooth skin. It shouldn't itch at all, and make sure once you've done this that you take a shower, and put any type of lotion over this.

Upkeep is key here as well. If I let mine go too long without going over the area again and the hair begins growing back, it gets itchy.

You must have not shaved it all the way if it's itchy. Go over it with a nice razor and if you still feel itching use some lotion.

Start with an electric trimmer, get it as short as possible so as to reduce the amount of passes you need to do with a razor.

Afterwards, exfoliate and moisturize and it'll keep the irritation down. The more you do it, the more your skin will get use to it, so if you really want to keep a clean shave, keep shaving at least once a week. Maybe even twice. To be honest, I've given up on razors and I just keep it super short with electric trimmers. You won't get the irritated red bumps, and you can get pretty damn close if you shave without a guard. I don't need babysmooth skin down there, I just need to keep it trimmed because tbh it gets pretty wild. That's disgusting and I'm almost embarrassed to admit it, but whatever. It's the internet.

P.S. Bag Balm (that really thick moisturizer jelly stuff with a cow on the tin..) is GREAT for moisturizer for that area. Cake it on there, let it soak in, gently wipe off excess (don't scrub it off, leave a little bit on the skin) and just put your pants on over it. It's awesome because, obviously, it moisturizes, but it's also just barely tacky on your skin. It'll catch your underbunders so they don't rub up on your skin and irritate it that way.. probably TMI, but it helps a lot.

My best tip is, shave after a hot shower/during the hot shower.

And don't shave against the hair, that's just dumb. (Causes itching)

And the hot water makes your hair easier to shave, and less uncomfortable ^^

Some of this has already been said, but it really helps. Don't don't don't don't a thousand times don't use a cheap razor when shaving more sensitive areas. It makes it sooo much worse then it could have been. Try and find one with multiple blades on it.

What I don't think anyone mentioned is after you shave and you get out of the shower, pat it dry instead of rubbing with a towel.. that's another thing that will irritate it.

Another thing, there's a wide variety of male powders that you can use down there that'll keep you dry and will cut down on the itching a lot. Just make sure you grab one thats asbestos free.

    Hope it helped some. D:

How much lotion did you put on? I suggest putting more lotion on, that should reduce the itch. If not, try using a more expensive shaver thats if your not using one already.

I don't shave, but I do trim and I know how the irritation can be when it's been cut "too short." As most everyone else has already stated, upkeep is key. Shave often, and try and do it while in a hot shower. Use lotion after and you should be fine. Think of it like shaving your face. It feels good after a fresh shave, but a couple days later it starts to itch and be irritating. Same basic principle except for the fact the pubic area is more sensitive and more easily irritated.

The reason why when you shave your pubic hair and it becomes itchy is simply because you are making the hair sharp.

Basically your hair forms a sort of blunt tip if you like, and when you cut it then that blunt tip is taken off and replaced with a temporarily sharp tip.
This sharp tip is what causes your itchiness when it rubs and pricks against your skin.

Solutions? Cut it REALLY REALLY REALLY short like when you shave lol. Or just apply tons of lotion on. It's just one of those things really.

I've used a disposable one for a while now..

Ive had no irritation at all.

Just make sure you do it while in the shower and using shaving cream or soap if you wanna improvise LOL.

The first time is the worst time it will get better believe me. Make sure you shave every 4-5 days at the beginning, then after the first month shave every three days until month three, then you can shave when needed with minimum to no irritation. Always use a cream on the area such as lotion before shaving, wash off, then add shaving gel or cream. Good luck!

try wax once :) it hurts like hell when it's being done but it takes longer to grow back and it leaves it smoother than shaving ever could get it :D

plus with the right kind of wax it already moisturizes your skin.
