Merchanting Successfully

As a level 3 I don't have many great methods to make money, therefore I'm planning on merchanting for a lengthy period of time as I've always wanted to own a party hat.

I understand that a purple party hat is currently around 900-950M street price.

I will be starting with a santa hat, amulet of fury and 35M cash (roughly 137M if you take the santa hat's street price into account).

My question: I'm yet to merchant/flip since free trade was reintroduced. What are the best methods and what's the potential profit that I could make per hour/day/week? And if anyone has any tips that they'd like to keep private could they please private message me if they're willing to help me out .

There's no set easy way to merchant. Honestly it's getting harder and harder. Before the GE, it was cake. 500m? easy. The GE made it seem impossible, but it could easily be done. Now it's pretty hard. You just need to know street prices. It comes with experience. People WILL sell low, you just need to find them, and you should NEVER settle.

Simply pick commonly used items. Things people try to buy/sell right away. Yew longbows, for example. Buy for 5% under/med, then sell for med/5% over.

But you can pick from a much wider range of items
Nature runes, Pure ess, Bandos, Rares(santas/h'weens/easters)

 

I would suggest hopping on the Santa Bandwagon and ride them out until they hit 100m+. I bought 6 at 78, which at 105m each would be 162m profit.

Here's a couple tips.

When you want to find the price for stackables, buy 1 for 10k. It won't really sell for 10k, instead it'll sell for the highest street price. Then sell it for 1coin. That's the lowest street price. It helps me a lot. (If you already have your flip item, and you want to find the proper sell price, make sure you select 1 and not all of them. Lost lots of cash after making that mistake).

Try to do smaller flips. You could do a flip with profit margin of 10% every couple hours, or a flip with a profit margin of 2% every five minutes. It really works for me, especially when I'm flipping stackables like nature runes. Hope you make lots of cash.
