This^. It's common sense. You get what you put into it. If you put 20 seconds into researching someone, then that's the same quality information you're going to get back. Go watch some infomercials. All of them say their product is the best, but do you actually believe them? I know I don't without solid evidence and research on my part. Why should sythe be any different? Think of every thread as an infomercial advertising that person's "product" and do a little research.

There are numerous 13 year olds that come on Sythe strictly to buy some gold I'm sure. Now, I'm sure most of them don't have the knowledge to even work Sythe very well. I personally when I first joined didn't even know how to quote vouches for the longest time. I've come a long way though. If I had joined sythe at first just to buy some gold and believed that a bunch of people were trusted and were Sythe's top seller, I would of got scammed easily. It's not all my fault either, because, they are false informing me. If you find Sythe on google for buying gold, you don't know what vouches are, etc, if you haven't used other forums.

Everyone has their own opinion on what "Trusted" means, in which case anyone could put it in their thread tags. I've mentioned this before, and I've got some good feedback on it. Take a look: http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=963779

I haven't read the other comments yet, but this can't be enforced. Being "trusted" is different for everyone. I agree that newcomers shouldn't be allowed to put "trusted" in their title, but it's just a stupid marketing trick. You should be able to determine whether or not someone is "trusted."

I understand the approach you're trying to take, and I would support something like that, but this has already been suggested and denied (something to do with staff not wanting to limit the freedom of members putting whatever they want in their title or something).

For those of you who support this, what are you "supporting"?

The removal of trusted users? Or a new trusted rank?

Having the "trusted" in my titles attract more customers for various reasons that are obvious. Am I and everyone else to stop since no one is trusted? It is very controvercial and it is for the buyer or seller to deem who is trusted. Also there are differend levels of trust. Do I believe I'm trustworthy? Better believe it. Do people trust me more than say Viou or FireZ? Hell no.

If we are to remove trusted rom titles than there will have to be new guidelines for who can put trusted or not and that opens SO much controvercy. Is t by join date? Post count? Vouches? Combination? What if he joined in 05 but has 29 posts? Has 342 vouches from free skilling?

I think it's best to leave it the way it is and let the moderators take trusted out of users titles who obviously are not.

Lets be frank, anyone who has to type the word trusted into their title clearly isn't trusted... If you are recognized by your username then you would be considered trusted. I thik its a great idea to stop, anyone can write a word but not many can live upto it.

This I belive that this is how it should be viewed for example its your choice. I have myself used trusted in my thread titles and I know I have a Twc but I have made quite alot of trades middlemanned quite a bit and earned quite a few vouches. So I feel its down to personal judgement. If you look at there post count join date and see them as trustable then its your fault if you get scammed or belive there thread title without doing background checks.

Well if they're 13, I don't think they should be coming onto Sythe and using their parents credit card to buy virtual items.

Most newcomers nowadays don't really live up to their "newcomer" title, they're mostly ban evaders/phishers, etc.

Since trusted isn't a rank, anyone has the right to put it in their title. It's fairly obvious when someone is actually trusted or not. If a newbie puts it in their title, just ignore it...I actually find it kind of amusing.

I find it some new people don't understand what vouches are therefore, it can be misleading, but they should research users before trading.

Never in my life have I thought this a good idea, nor ever in my life will I change my mind on this matter.

The only system we have to grant members "Trusted" is by giving them an Official Middleman Rank, and that's the way it should stay. It is not our job to grant arbitrary trust into people. (On that note, it is not our job to decide that a person is not trusted indiscriminately, as would be the case if we censored out [Trusted].) You, yourself, should remain the one and only judge of the trustworthiness of another person in a trade, since you, yourself, are the only person who really has the power to consider another person trustworthy. I personally almost completely ignore post count, vouch count, and even rank title (especially "Highly Trusted" which is such a legacy rank that I cannot expect it to really hold any merit). My only source of judgment is whether a not a person has anything to lose if they scam this trade.

The ONLY thing I think we can improve is by writing a handbook of trading, but people will probably ignore it even more than the security warning stickies we already have.

Wasn't really meant to be a suggestion in the first place, but I see where your coming from. Can be closed as the question's been answered. I still think it's retarded for somebody to be able to put numerous things in their thread if they don't live up to it.

As a mod, I've "vouched" dozens of people I wouldn't personally trust at all to go first in a trade of any value. These vouches simply say that this person completed a successful trade, with is definitely worth something. If I'm vouching that the person is undeniably trustworthy in my eyes, I'll make it clear.

Basically, I just mean to say that I do not think my vouches as "mod vouches" are worth any more than a Newcomer's vouch. I'm hardly a better judge of character.

I don't see the problem with putting trusted in your title. It attracts customers, which is the point of the title. If some people don't have enough common sense to differentiate between a trusted person and non trusted person then its their own fault.

I sometimes put [Trusted Trader] in my title because im sure all of the 12 people who I've traded with do see me as trust worthy hence I am 'Trusted'
    by some people.

Vouches aren't basically trust issued.. unless it's them going first on a large amount.

A lot of vouches are just stupid shit.
"Sold me 1m I went first"
    Shouldn't count.
    "I mm'd his trade"
    Shouldn't count.

Other pointless vouches are just an additional vouch to your list.

If you go over mine, I have very few vouches under 50$.
But all of mine, however, are everyone going first. (I EVEN TRIKED VIETBALLER TO GO FIRST FOR 7M OMG)
Staff/OMM vouch of 7mil is nothing.
