RuneScape Compatible Laptop.

Hey guys. I have not been happy with the way RuneScape runs on my now 3-year old mac. So now, I'm ready to move on and DO NOT even want to go near a mac. Basically I'm looking for a nice laptop that will run RuneScape WITHOUT the crazy lag that I experience on my Mac. I understand that RuneScape is naturally laggy but the problem with my mac is that every 30 minutes I'm restarting my computer because I get an "Error-Game Crash" message because of the terrible lag. I have tried to resolve this problem and even called my Internet provider to see if there were any bumps in the system and they said the connection was fine. So I've finally concluded after denying the fact for a month that I need to upgrade to a new computer. Basically I don't want to spend over $1,000 and it would be nice if the price were $800 or lower since I'm using a loan from my parents until I get a job when school is over. I will be buying the laptop from here: http://www.bestbuy.com/. Basically I need some advice on what makes RuneScape run best? The memory? Processor? Java compatibility? Basically I'm not a real computer genius so anyone who has some sort of computer knowledge and can enlighten me would be appreciated.

You don't really need a good laptop to run Runescape. Just pick up any random laptop and you'll be fine.

I just recently built a gaming computer from there that would sell easily for 4 grand+ retail,
and I only spent $2200, am running 40+ bots and can play wow without any lag.
You could easily Build a computer for $500 that could run rs like a pro on newegg.

 

Runescape is not a "laggy game" if your computer/internet speed is fine. Just pick anything with 2gig ram+ and at the very least a duel core processor. This is far more than runescape will ever need and should run other games aswell (as long as your getting a half decent graphics card). As for java you just download and install java.. nothing more to it.

A main reason for lag on runescape is just a low internet connection. I run on 11mb/s (from a small village with very old connections) and i get next to no lag. Just make sure your getting what you pay for.

 

Yeah if your looking for a good laptop don't base it off if it will run runescape. Any laptop should be able to do this. I would find something with 3 most likely 4gb of ram, dual processor or an i3/i5.

Asus great newer brand of laptops. Suppose to be solid. Their gaming laptops are great but start for $1000. This one however has great specs.

Few questions I need you to answer.

What else will you be using the comp for?
Are you limited to Best Buy?
What size screen would you like? (13, 15, 17)

Once you answer those 3, we can begin to get into the finer specs and start finding one.

1. I will be using the comp for college work as well. Essays, research reports, etc. It would be nice if I could also record PvP clips on this computer as I would like my pure to start getting known
2. I'm not limited to Best Buy but a retail store similar to Best Buy would be nice. (Any store that I can drive to and find the product at.) Not a big fan of purchasing non-virtual goods online since I've had bad luck in the past.
3. I would like a 15-17 inch screen but with the size of the screen comes the larger cost of the Laptop, and as you could see from my original post is that I'm limited on money. I'd take a 13 inch screen with better specs over a 15 inch or 17 inch screen with just mediocre specs.

I'm looking at a set up thats something along the lines of :

Intel i5 (probably a 2.3GHz)
4-6 GB 1333 DDR3
and maybe something like a 1gb 525M NVID G.f.

I dont know what your movie/music situation is like, how much space do you anticipate needing on your HDD?

 

Sounds awesome if I knew what any of those abbreviations ment haha. I play World of Warcraft as well as Runescape so that game takes up quite a bit of space. Also, if you have the chance could you get me a link to this Dell laptop? I would really appreciate it so I could share it with my

Look at the far left, baseline model. See what you think. If you like the general set-up, I can likely find / get it made cheaper.

Dude look for the XPS M1730 (or M1710) by dell. It's a gaming laptop hardcore (2 graphics cards, powerful processor, RAM) its also fairly old too, i used to be 2k-5k in its prime, but now its 800$ from one site i checked. I recommend it if you want to game on it and it's uber powerful

 

Mac is just your operating system... *shrugs*
and 95% lag/disconnecting are caused by jagex..

Doesn't matter, personally I suggest going with an amd processor and 4gbit+ ram. I would definitly go with a dell, since their warranty is unparalleled in excellence.

You could try out the dell depot, get a 2500$ machine for approx 950$ xD <3 dell.

Avoid xps and studio systems, alot of them are having issues with the screens burning out.

It also boils down to what operating system you want. For the best performance anything but vista/seven by microsoft.

If you're wanting windows I'd go with tinyxp/windows black. (windows black<==)

Personally I suggest PC-BSD (FreeBSD) for performance/reliability.

David439) I've had an m1730 and I could seldom keep the cpu below 50-60c at best, and that's with external cooling. Thing ran so hot I didn't need to run the furnace.. I would avoid an xps at all costs unless dell depot gives you a retardedly good deal.

 

the 525 NVID is overkill.... for movie edit it is more about the processor and less on the gpu. If you are doing intense editing, I recommend the xps with quad i5/7 cpu's.

 

I have a HP netbook that cost me $350 NZD that plays RS fine. It has a small screen though .
