Benefits of a VPS?

Just wondering, what are the benefits of having a vps? it costs like $40 a month to get 4 gb of ram on your vps... but you can just run your bots on your computer right? whats the difference.

You don't have to run your computer all the time, so for people who can't, or their computer is crap, it's better. Also, you can do more bots at the same time.

I thought you can get some for cheaper...

Anyway, you can bot without having your computer on all the time. Plus you can probably run more than your computer can handle (unless you have a beast of a computer).

 

Not everyone has a computer that can run enough bots, nor the money to buy a computer that can. Or they don't want to clog up their computer resources on RS bots/leave they're computer on 24/7.

 

he's talking about a 4GB vps.. which is like 10 bots running 24/7

and people use them so they don't have to use up their computer's resources, and to be able to bot on a different IP address so if their account gets banned they can try and appeal it as stolen.

 

my computer is 8 gb ram with 3.0 ghz processor ... Im only running a max of 4 bots... and I can still play starcraft II lol so I guess I don't really need a vps right?

 

I dont uinderstand how you would run a bot on a VPS

 

you set it up, install a remote access tool.. usually VNC server
you connect to it remotely through a VNCviewer
you install a botclient
you run the botclient... and voila...

 

its pretty much like buying space on someone else computer to run your bots. Glad i dont have to waste my money on that since i can run 10 on my laptop and another 5 on my desktop

most people's laptops/computers can't run more than 3-4 bots, having a VPS on top of your laptop can allow you to run 5-6 bots simultaneously.
