    Glossary - a suggestion

Call me stupid, but I think somewhere in the introduction forums, there should be some kind of stick with a glossary. Everyone that's been here for a long while uses abbreviations, and frankly, I have no idea what they're talking about with a few of them.

This may have been suggested already, but I've been lurking the forums for two days now trying to figure out as much information as I can, and I haven't seen anything like it yet. o:

But really, I think it would help new users get a knack for things and would help with communication all around. :)

You can try Urban dictionary, but I do like the idea though.

It wouldn't hurt to have a bunch of abbreviations that the Sythe community uses.

It'd be way too hard to create a uniform glossary. Most of the stuff here anywhere is common forum lingo (nty, lol, tl;dr, etc).

Longest time I personally didn't know what tl;dr. Only hear of it on Sythe. Thinks like pp, wu, mb, pa, are things you pick up on through Sythe. I really don't see the reason as to why not make one. Definitely deserves a sticky some where, can be user made.

There's common lingo like that, but also other things.

Game abbreviations, gold abbreviations.. I believe RSGP is runescape gold? I'm not even sure about that.

Just lingo that the community uses.

I requested the "Sythe FAQ" sticky in introductions to be moved from Help/Requests so newer users see it more, which has been done as you can see, also for it to be updated with abbreviations and such like you suggested... which hasn't been done yet. So it has been suggested before, just nothing done... If a mod wants me to write an updated version, I wouldn't mind :noworry:.

For this suggestion, you'd need to make a list of terms that you were confused by.

The only abbreviations I can think of are, "WU" "MM" "OMM" and "TWC". Hopefully "RSGP" needs no explanation; altogether it'd be kind of a sad glossary. Most of the terms you can pick up from the context, especially given the the frequency of their use (at least in regards to the first three).

Just looking at thread titles, RWT, HWID, PoE, Uc, VBA, WU, TWC, and a few more.

I don't think it's a problem for a glossary to have words that people already have figured out.. ie. PP, WU, RSDP, etc.. At least it's there for someone who DOESN'T know.

When I first joined, I was browsing through the forums and everything just looked like a bunch of jumbled letters with random spaces in-between, I was completely lost, and it gave me a headache. All I'm saying is that a glossary would be a good reference. :)

Pretty much agree with this guy. But only Sythe stuff, don't start teaching people slang from general-gaming, that they can google their way to.

    RWT - Real World Trade
HWID - Hardware ID (not sure)
PoE - Portal of Evil (googled it)
VBA - could be the gameboy (visual boy advance) or visual basic
    WU - Western Union
    TWC - Trade with Caution

95% of abbreviations are obvious just by reading the context it's placed in.

    Though probably true,
I'd rather be 100% sure then just guess based on the context.

    A glossary wouldn't hurt. ;P
