Be Careful What you Post on Facebook!

A recent scandal has occured in my town where someone has hacked hundreds of email and facebook accounts. Nude pictures, affairs, and conversations have popped up and it's turning into a huge mess. The cops have even gotten involved.

Little did everyone know, they were basically setting themselves up. Two main security checks, for AIM anyways, is the birthdate, gender, zip code, and a security question. Most people's security questions are very simple like "where were you born" or "where do you live". All of these can be found on your Facebook page.

Everyone should be careful what information they openly display for others to see and make their security questions more elaborate that a friend or someone looking at your Facebook page won't be able to guess.

Nothing new I mean Facebook is like the hotspot for phishers and hackers now including predators of course. Deleted mine a long time ago haven't looked back since, but this is really helpful for most since basically majority has a facebook on here. Thanks for the heads up
I always try to use custom questions if possible that can only be known by me.

 

Yeahh I didn't realize just how much information I was putting out in the open. I also use custom security questions so nothing gets hacked.

Yeah, i deactivated my facebook account recently, it was rare i went on there but it is the thought of personal information being shared.

I think Facebook is fine, if you just don't overuse it for its applications and such.

Haven't had any problems with it.

 

It's actually ridiculous how much personal information Facebook stores about you.

Also who sends nudes over Facebook? Why not just either text them or email them... cmon.

 

That's crazy.. But I don't see anyone sitting down and doing that to over 100 people.... seems like it would take a long time.

 

Noo, meant people used info from fb accounts to hack emails to get pictures, etc

I have actually heard of people getting on rs accounts because of this.. There is a simple way where you can limit your profile which I think everyone should do personally. I even have it set up so my family cannot see my pictures "In college". Also employers have been using facebook to get extra background information on you and this could also determine weather or not they hire you.

 

I really never thought a website like facebook would become somewhere people would hack eachother.

Exactly, perfectly said! Lots of threats are going to the unknown hackers in my town now, if the police find out who it was, it's gonna be a mess.

All of this could have been avoided, sadly, the majority of Facebook users are for the most part, ignorant.

The rules of Facebook:

1. Don't use apps.
2. Don't post or share what you wouldn't like to be shared.
3. Only add people you know, and don't click suspicious links by those you do know.

 

Your right, I tell my friends to remove numbers from facebook, Now days technology, it dos'nt take 10 seconds to track someone down ... =[

Not only can you be hacked or stalked, but employers look at that shit now. If you have pictures of you drinking and smoking and shit all over your page, they'll take that into consideration when it comes down to you or somebody else for the job

 

Good point, kids in my school have been denied acceptance in National Honor Society because of pics. Same for sports, players suspended for having pictures drinking..
