Count lowball offers intended for post count as spam?

    My suggestion:
Count the "Start you off with [insert very low amount]" as spam, within common sense. Make lowball offers intended for post count infractable.

    My reason:
A substantial portion of the people that post these messages are intending it to be a +1 post count. If within common sense an account valued at $100 is on the market and I post "start you off with $10" someone should report me. I have no intention of making that purchase for $10. I see this as common as someone spamming "added on msn" on every thread. Now there will be people that ask "what if he is serious" well that's where common sense and mod judgment come to play, just report it very simple. Let's combat the spammers, we can agree alot end up scamming once they reach their quotas.

    Suggested solution:
Revise the spam rules to include "Do not make lowball offers intended for post count" or something similar. Need more feedback/solutions.

Then post something in your thread. Starting bid is $60 will not take anything else below that amount.

    Solved?

Even if you are unsure of what to place the starting bid at, just create one. If someone posts an offer below that, you can report it without any problems - just be sure to mention that you stated a starting bid in your thread.

This is perfectly reasonable, however i disagree with the first post. When someone doesn't have a starting offer I sometimes put in a low offer and if nobody offers any higher, I will be perfectly happy to buy it. Some people may do it for the post count but I can guarentee that a lot of people do not as well and some of us will be happy to give someone a hassle free trade so we can make a little bit of profit off it down the track.

Yeah, I agree with this for the most part. What I was trying to say is that this new rule wouldn't be needed. Either place a starting bid and report all who offer below it, or don't, and deal with the first couple posts being lowballers, possibly for the reason wiredgaming stated above.

Do a "starting bid" or "min bid"
If people offer under that, report.

Ask for cash only, if they offer swaps or accounts, report it.

    The report button is friendly.

There is too much of a grey area for this. As others have said, just state the starting bid in the OP and anything under can be reported as spam.

Revising the rules won't prevent the lowball offers. If you think someone is spamming(ie bidding $1 on a $50 account) or posting "add my msn" everywhere, certainly report it. It's already considered spam, and we'll infract/delete accordingly. Thanks! :)
