Have you wondered if all of this was real?

Have you ever just thought that everything was all a test and nothing more? Every problem is an obstacle, to see how you react to it. Every dream means something besides the subconcious like its trying to tell you something. If you have something to add to this I will quote it.

 

the only meaning that exists is the meaning you create for yourself.
our senses are our only windows to the only thing we share, reality.
dreams have been seen to be anywhere from random jumbles of sensory information to a means of solving problems you cannot solve in waking life.

there is no evidence that this is a "test", so i will go on believing it is not.

 

Tbh, even if there is a possibility that this is a test. I would not care. Our planet has been around for billions of years, humans have lived their lives on earth for thousands and thousands of years. The idea that we are living in a faked reality doesn't phase me at all, because I'm happy with the way I live.

Dreams often do mean something. Our dreams are often metaphors for other feelings, or dreams are wish fulfillment.

 

Anything is just as real as you believe it to be.

 

There are many theories on dreams.

Freuds wish fulfillment theory where people will dream and replicate their sub/unconscious desires which they are unable to attain in real life.

Hobson and McCarley's activation synthesis theory, where when we reach REM sleep our bodies go into a form of 'muscular paralysis' and because of this the jumbled messages from our spinal cord are spat out in our dreams which is why sometimes they make little to no logical sense.

Memory Processing explanation, is not just a theory, but a study showing that animals go to sleep and process the days information and process that information in their dreams, and further improve on it. They believe humans do a form of this as well.


There are many other theories as well, but the major misconception is that most people only have a basic knowledge on why dreams occur, that being for your sub/unconscious desires, however this is not true as their are several other just as credible theories and explanations.

This could be partly true, but sometimes as I dream I realize I am dreaming and can control my dream such as the movie "Inception" shows them doing. It is called Lucid Dreaming, so it could be Freuds wish fulfillment theory.

 

Lucid dreaming is a rare occurrence when once conscious self recognizes that they are dreaming, and an in turn can control their dreams. From my knowledge it has nothing to do with Freud's Wish Fulfillment theory, as only a certain amount of the population have the ability to do it. However when I was a kid, whenever I had a nightmare, I somehow had the ability to pause it and restart it; its hard to explain but my parents said I'd never wake up with nightmares or night terrors. Now however I don't have this ability anymore.

However I personally think that there needs to be a combination of all these different theories, however just themselves individually is merely an introduction.

 

I wonder about things like existence constantly. In the end I think we should all just live life and try to be the best people we can be.

I actually wonder this alot. I cant help but beleive theres someone who is actually controlling us, like marionettes. And when its time for us to die, he just drops the strings. I dont think its God though. There isnt someone good and evil. Its all one person pulling the strings, until your puppet just isnt fun anymore.

The thought has crossed my mind but shortly after my logic kicks in and knocks me back into reality. As for the dreams, I've seen many interpretations of what dreams mean or represent but nothing conclusive really. Have you just watched Inception or something? lol.

 

I'm thinking about this a lot, even before this thread was created. I however think all the things in front of us have been made just for us, and that our reality is like The Truman Show. Even a small pebble was made just for us, or one person specifically, for their reality and life.

Possibly, but I doubt it. I really don't see a purpose for life. We come and live. Keep the economy and population going and then we die. That's it.
