What do you think of religious recruiters?

I always ignore them and never answer my door (They're 99% Jehovas Witness') I find it annoying because they go to YOUR property and try to convince/persuade you to join their religion.
What if I went to their property and for examples sake I was Gothic and told them to join me because it's the "right path" I think they'd be irritated or mad.

 

Speaking as ( a new member and-) an Englishman I can say that we get very few of these people knocking on the door nowadays.
Its quite hard to shut the door on these people without coming off as rude.

If these people believe so proudly and fiercely for there beleifs that they will knock on peoples doors, knowing that they will get some one on the other end shouting back every now and again. then we should respect them for it.
However that doesnt mean I will be opening the door for them

 

Really? I also live in England, although I live in the south-east, if I remember correctly, you live a lot more north than me. I get Jehovah's witnesses knocking on my door once every 1-2 weeks. It's pretty damn annoying, as they don't accept the answer 'No'. They are always trying to get you to join their church or accept their flyers and books. I wouldn't have a problem with it if they knocked once, accepted the answer and moved on, but no matter what you tell them, they try to convince you what they are doing is correct and you should follow in their footsteps, forcing you to slam the door on them or pretend to agree and stand in your doorway for 20 minutes.

 

Extremely rude and extremely persistent.

I have one from my university inviting me to different events and talks, but is way too aggressive about it. I wouldn't mind listening to them, but I know they are only soliciting me to get 1+ member to their church and have little value or regard at all as a person.

I could hardly respect or even consider joining a church if their people are shallow minded as that.

 

That depends on their approach, if they're simply trying to help and inform, where's the harm?

That said, many of them are pretty annoying.

 

They're full of shit and spread their ignorant lies to you in an attempt to convert you, and if you refuse than they will make you look like a dick until you agree with them.

I normally see the odd bible preacher in the city I'm living in at the moment (Plymouth).

Also we've had various visits from Jehovas Witnesses, the most common door to door religion advertisers:

Islamic communities have built mosques to cater for their beliefs/practice etc.

Maybe it's not so apparent in the north, but in the south it is alot more common.

I believe we've lost our identity with how multi-cultural / multi-faith England has become.

Usally the thing that will get them to go away is this.

Religious Person: Are you going to heaven?
You: Yes.
Religious Person: how you know that!
You: Because I am white.

I said that to one at a fair and he walked away.(it was a black man)

Anyways ya I am Baptist and find people like that annoying as hell.

I don't mind if they come once, and ask if your interested, or give you a flyer.

However when they come repetitively, and say theres something wrong with you, then I've got a problem with them.

 

I can't stand these types of people tbh..

 

I know what you mean the other day i was sleeping and at 10am some old fart with his young kid came to preach and it was awkward cause i have just woken up, i told him i wasn't interested and i closed the door

 

They should be lynched, as the majority of them want your money. I use to have neighbors that followed a "cult" and stole money from the mindless idiots that joined it.

 

It sort of depends. I'm Mormon, so I've hung out with a lot of missionaries. Some are just really annoying and pushy (those usually get stuck in the office instead of actually physically proselyting), and some are cool and will just leave people who don't want to hear what they're saying alone.

 

I really don't mind them. they are just trying to spread their way of life, they agent forcing it on you. I listen to what they have to say and maybe discuss my religious views, I certainly would not slam the door in they're face that'd just plain ignorance and rude.:huh:

 

I get jehovah witnesses at my door often.

Most recently, they tried to convince me that god and jesus are not the same, that the trinity is bullshit.
Furthermore, they were talking crap about how the world is coming to an end because of the recent increase in earthquake activity.

I would say that they are doing it wrong.

 

Yeah I agree that scaring somebody into thinking that the world is going to end or something like that is the wrong way to preach your religion.

 

I do think that God is real, however I find it extremely annoying, and I never open the door for them. I don't care what religion it is to be honest, I'd rather just let people choose for their own.

 

Piss me off knocking on the door, once you open that door you have the next challenge of getting rid of them.
