    Learning to fight.

I want to learn to fight. I've never had to fight in my life(cool guy that sorts shit out with words) but I want to learn to fight because should that time come, I will have nothing. I want to be able to street fight. What fighting styles can people recommend for me? I've always thought boxing and kickboxing were cool but are they practical for street fights?

Boxing your best bet. You just need to know how to keep a stand, punch without using too much energy. Like punch hard but not so hard that you get tired easily. A normal punch can easily knock out a grown man so no need to punch like hulk :p

MMA, but I done same thing as you.

I never got into fight or anything like that, when I started MMA I was out on the weekends kinda looking for fights,That grow out of me but try not to let that happen to you :p

Start with Karate, then go to Boxing, then MMA dont go straight to MMA if you dont really no what your doing.

I would say you need to learn quite a few fighting styles. Boxing, you should start and work your way to Karate, Sambo, or even a ju jutsu. These will help you fight under pressure.

I would say kick boxing, the main problem with street fighting is that there are no rules unlike competition martial arts, and you have to get over your initial fear of fighting another person.

Kick Boxing and some Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, if they ever get you on the ground tough luck because you know BJJ.

Honestly with some of the street fights i've seen, they was no style of fighting used, it was both people doing whatever they could to win lol.

The only thing i can tell you is it takes one critical blow to end any fight, karate is cheap and a base program for fighting.

I Would go with karate to learn the base of a stance and basic move's, move on to boxing or some kind of stand up game to defend your self against punch's and learn how to throw a punch back at your opponent.

And then learn wrestling at an MMA center, you realy need to know how to use your weight effectivley or use their own weight against them, if they get on top of you on the ground it can be game over, or if thye pick you up and slam you.

I would recommend, Brazilian Ju Jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts, or Boxing. Judo is an option however its got to deal alot with throws, so if you don't wana punch someone in the face, but throw him on the ground then Judo.

Personally, I would train judo. If you got in a street fight and did a hip throw to concrete, most people would shit ther epants and nowt know what to do. Boxing/Kickboking is a good thing to start thing too.

Honestly i know a couple different kinds of fighting, but the one ive used the most when paired up with someone a lot bigger than me is karate because it its pretty basic and almost instinctual

Doing martial arts for a street fight won't help very much. Most fights are over within the first 20 seconds, if the fight isn't then you're most likely in trouble. You can always prepare for a fight, but you still need practice or you'll never learn to fight. Boxing would be your best bet to prepare for a fight, it will help with your technique, and overall strength. Also do some cardio, because you will get very tired and winded in a street fight.

So you're best bet is just fighting, you might get your ass kicked a couple of times, but at least you'll be ready and know what to do the next time around.

I would choose MMA personally. My friend goes often and he's changed massively physique-wise in the past couple of months, I really need to start going.

Learning martial arts will help your technique, but I think first you must learn how to take a blow. Once you can deal with pain, and keep going you should be fine :)

Learn the system, it's the Spetsnaz martial art. I learned some of it, I got into a fight with a kid and he was on the ground in 1 minute. Before he could hit me, he was already on the ground. I really suggest learning it, it's really useful. It's all about hitting people in the right pressure points and learning not to feel pain. Here's a video of it, I don't give a crap if you hate the Spetsnaz or hate Russia or whatever. I think it's really cool.
