You could do any 1 of the things posted previously, OR your could hope to get lucky staking in RS then sell the rs gold for irl cash and buy your dad a new tv

 

Buy a new one or come out clean.

Those are the only two options you have.

Well guys, this is how it turned out. Today, 3/11/11 is my birthday btw, so I'm finally 16 Just wanted to point that out b/c I'm only 16 once.

Anyhow, as for my situation, well, I don't know exactly what happened. All my dad did was, I am not joking btw, tell my mom that we are not going to buy a new TV; also, my mom canceled our Dish subscription, which is understandable.

So, yeah, I haven't 1 on 1 talked to my dad nor hope to. However though, I feel rather lucky for the turnout of this event. I actually thought I was in for a beating. Oh well.

If a mod sees this, you can close this thread or leave it be.

Sounds like you got a pretty good deal out of the whole situation. Dad's not mad (hopefully) and you seemed to have a good birthday.

My family has had the TV for 2+ years now, I'm pretty sure that the warranty has expired, so does my mom. Anyhow, thanks for the tip regardless

 

How did YOU break it? Were you completely responsible?
Tell your dad what happened, and tell him that you'll gladly pay it off, and you've been trying to save $ for it. (Don't buy the TV, without his permission or w/e, just incase he doesn't like it, etc.)

 

Call him right now the sooner you tell him the honest truth the less mad he will be.

Tell him exactly how it happened and do not get defensive.

Tell him you will do what you can to help him replace it (work for him or something)

But seriously, I suggest you talk to him and explain what happened, parents have unconditional love, he may be mad, but his son means more to him then a flat screen tv, I am sure he will be pissed, but just explain and he will understand, even if you get grounded, it's better to be honest, your parents are the ones who are REALLY there for you when you need someone.

you know, you should be honest. Yes you may get into trouble, but hes still your dad. and it's his nature to still love you no matter what you did. Heck man ill tell you this I broke my dads labtop when i was 15 and I thought that he was going to kill me. Yes he grounded me for 3 weeks but hell, he was nice about it, all im saying is he will be mad. but he is still your dad and he will forgive you. EVERYONE makes mistakes no one is perfect the only perfect guy to ever walk this earth was Jesus himself and we slaughtered him.

 

Ok....Nobody is perfect. Yes, punching a tv is a VERY bad reason to break an expensive tv...but nobody is perfect. I personally would tell him the truth, GO UP TO HIM NOW THOUGH and don't just let him find out on his own because that is much worse.

Secondly, do not buy another one. I have been there and saying "i will buy another one" will just piss him off because he will probably not take you seriously.

I would just walk up to him and say "I did something really irresponsible....i got mad while argueing with mom and lashed out without thinking hitting the closest thing to me, which was the tv....When i turn it on its rainbow on the left (etc, tell about the problem) and I dont know if you can fix it or not...and im sorry..." and he will obviously be VERY pissed....but the bottom line is everyone makes mistakes and the fact that you walked up to him and told him about it all shows you are being mature about it, and he will respect that - whether it takes a week or a few weeks, he will respect it and forgive you.

Nobody is perfect, and everyone makes mistakes. That is your mistake, so learn by it and accept responsibility. But buying a new one for him is not the answer in my opinion.

Tell him straight up what happened, he is your father and will obviously be a little angry but that will pass. Offer to help repair it.
