    School..im think im done trying

So im 16 in my junior year at a good private high school

my grades are good but theyre not amazing
honestly they could be way better but i just
have no interest in school at all
The problem is i have a lot of pressure on me
from parents and peers. My friends are all going to go
to great colleges while ill be probably be going to an above average
school but nothing i can be proud of around them
the thing with school for me is i find interest in none of my classes
(except for computer science) and therefore put the bare minimum effort

    What should i do?

should i try harder because i might regret it later

    or

should i stick to what i like and hope for the best

Try harder. I was in the same spot you were my sophomore year of HS. I told myself it gets better and put more effort into school.

Right now I'm at a very recognized private college getting a degree in physics, have an extremely attractive and intelligent girlfriend, and am looking at jobs that start at around 100k a year.

I got my shit together and it paid off bigtime, even more so because I'm doing things that I love doing (and never knew I loved them until college to be honest).

High school is tough, but don't let it get you down! We have a homework help forum for a reason and I'll make it a personal goal to keep your head above water if you make it a goal to swim to shore, no matter the distance.

I've got a friend, he tries very very hard to get good grades.

He studies hours and hours for 20 minute weekly tests, and he got a B. Granted the next he got an A, however the fact that he studies so hard and sometimes still doesn't get an A is astounding.
I personally tell him that it's not the mark you get, but the knowledge you gain. If you can commit something to your long term memory and get C in a test, as opposed to committing that same thing to your short term memory and getting an A. I would gladly take the C.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's different for everyone. Do what you love doing. A class you love is a class you'll do good in. Don't worry about what other people say to you.
My parents said to me that they would have no regrets if I became a garbage man, as long as I was happy. What would you prefer in life; happiness, or grades?

I wouldn't give up on anything. Studying for 20 minutes each day reviewing everything you learned that day can help a lot.

    Honestly man.
    I feel your pain.

I am in my first year at a community college.
I felt stupid because I was going to a community college and not a university.

But you will realize that you have more initiative working harder in college than in HS.
Depending on where you go and if there are no parties, you will learn a lot.

Personally, I didn't work very hard in junior year HS..
But my community college is a great way of restarting all my mistakes.

You reap what you sew. If you put the hard work in now it will all pay off in the future.

Trust me, work as hard as you can.

Nothing right now is more important than doing your best in highschool. What you do now will probably effect your living style in the future, so the more work you put in the easier your life will be. The classwork might seem annoying, but just do it because you know that it will help you out in the long run.

I am not going to preach to you and tell you to do something you don't want to, but I will give you the advice that I am currently 16, I dropped out due to oweing 7 credits, if you are going to a private school, AND have a chance at getting into an above average college, please consider what your future could be like, you could have it all, or you could have nothing, in the end, regardless of what I say, your gonna do what you want, but if you are truly interested in a good future, you will pursue school, and find the career that is right for you, I have told people to PM me if they have a problem, but I really do want to talk to you, PLEASE pm me, this is a very sensitive subject for me, and I'd like to go into further detail with you privately.

That's how I feel right now. I think at the end of the day, you will know what's best for yourself. For me, I think being above average is OK and that after college I'll prove myself. For you, it may or may not be different. If college is really important to you, then I would suggest putting in 60% of your time into it. If not, then it's up to you man.

I'm in a very similar vote my man. Same issue, same grade, etc. The only thing I can say is that it's time to step up now, suck it up, and finish it off. I just started doing better after 1st semester, just think of it this way. You only have 15 months left of high school, THAT'S IT, then it's ALL OVER, and you can focus on a career, and college.

Only 3 months of school left for me. I know what you're feeling.

I'm just trying to get it over with, it's terrible but it pays. I know a lot of people who have fucked themselves in the long run and are really regretting it now because they don't know where to go next.

    School..im think im done trying

I went all through High school doing the bare minimum. Never studied, or even payed any attention during class. But I did all my homework/essays/projects so always ended up with B's in the classes even though I did horribly on the majority of tests or quizzes.

I got into an average college, and am doing fine as of now. But, now when I think back I really wish I would have tried harder in high school and pulled out those A's because I feel like now I wish I could be in a really good college, but it's mostly too late.

So my advice to you, is to just try as hard as you can - no matter how bad it sucks, even if it means turning down nights out with your friend to study for a test or something for a class you don't like.

The way you have to look at it is that you use these early years now to work hard, and it will pay off for you in the future and you will have a more enjoyable, less stressed life.

Just try hard, these years are the foundations of the outcome of the rest of your life.....build it strong.

    Sir Huntman
