What does that make me? ;)

Hey community, couldn't really find a straight answer, so i came to the black market forums for an answer maybe :p

I have trouble learning and understanding things..

    [example]

Say the teacher would put a math question up, and tell us how to work it out and how to answer it. No matter how hard i try, i wouldn't understand anything he says.

Like a brick wall surrounding my ears? that's how i think of it.

I've played guitar for awhile now, im pretty good at it..learn things very well with it, but other things..something as simple as reading instructions, i just cant understand it, like it's going out one ear and the other ear.

Anybody know if there's some sort of condition or something related to that?
Or am i just lazy lol

    Thanks yo.

I have the same problem with math dude, I can read, write, and understand English very well yet math doesn't filter through my head.

Their are people who can't understand one thing but are really good at another thing, in this case guitar with you.

I'd like more information on this as well if you don't mind me popping in occasionally :)

try a easier math class possibly? some move to fast, others go slow, and can give more of a 1 on 1 expiereince with teachers and show other methods to solving problems.

Everyone is different and has their own strength and talents, I am the complete opposite of you, any information I hear I soak up like a sponge and I catch on to new things very quickly. But yet I haven't been able to learn any type of instrument or music.

If music is what you like, maybe focus your future on being a professional song writer, or maybe even a local artist, if you want to talk more just PM me, I'd love to hear from you :D.

This sounds quite a bit like me in ways. It might seem strange but have you thought about getting tested for Dyslexia. Im 21 and have only been diagnosed with dyslexia this past year. Ive managed to get through school, college and 1 year of uni without knowing. The problems i faced were semi similar to you, with being told instructions even the simplist, and just not understanding.

I would advise asking for a dyslexia test. Some schools will have specialists in to do the test there, or you might have to go and see an educational psycologist elsewhere near to where you live to get checked, but i would advise it.

    I hope this has helped.

It's possible then you have a learning disorder. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, they're real things. My friend had one and it caused him loads of strife until he finally got it checked out and it was actually classified by a doctor as a learning disorder. Now he has extra time on tests and other things to make school more bearable for him.

I personally have always had a problem learning/grasping math throughout school. The only advice I could give you is to not think of yourself as having a learning problem, and instead have confidence in yourself with learning it and it might help you do better in class.

I have found that most people are either good at english / languages / or graphics / maths. Some are great at english and really bad at maths. Personally, I'm really good at maths and bad at things like languages. The best way that I found to get around this was to not try too hard at something.

Me too! I always have straight A's and like a c in math. I just feel like my brain subconsciously filters it out as nonsense. o_O

You're pretty much the same person as me, just that when I concentrate, I can actually do very well, it's just that I always speak with my friends in the class, and I can't hear a thing.

I struggle with maths sometimes as well, but I excel at English and Science. I find that Maths is a subject that requires a lot of practice, and I find it easier to practice maths at home a few times a week.
