Ventrilo: Setup and Basic Use

Upon recent events of the 'Unofficial Sythe.org Ventrilo' being released , I thought it was due for an Easy to follow set up and use guide. Which brings me to this section.

This guide will show you how to install and Set up your Ventrilo and some basic use features.

The 'Unofficial Sythe.org Ventrilo' Information:

Hostname/IP: barium.typefrag.com
Port: 13290
Password: sytheftw (Until you get verified and change it)

How lets get started

To install it click the link below and follow the step by step pictures
(You will need to select the download that is relevant to your computer settings)

Your installation is now complete! Congrats!
Time to open Ventrilo and set it up!

First you will need to make a Username , If you using the Sythe.org Unofficial Ventrilo then please use your sythe name.



Now it's time to add a server , in this case , The Unofficial Sythe.org Ventrilo!




You have now set up your user and a Channel! In this case:
The 'Unofficial Sythe.org Ventirlo'

Your Ventrilo should now look like this:
Click connect and your in!
*If it doesn't connect you may have entered some information wrong.



Now it's time to set your desired settings:

Red Box: This is your hot key - The key you will press when you wish to talk , left click into this box and then click your desired hot key.

Yellow Box: This is you outbound and inbound sound controls. If people are having trouble hearing you simply turn up outbound. If you having trouble hearing them , simply turn up inbound

Blue Box: This is were you will select the Speaker an Microphone device you wish to use. Normally it will automatically detect them and use it.




Extra: If you don't want to push a button each time you wish to talk simply Unclick 'Use hotkey' and change your Silence time to .5 and your sensitivity to 1. This will mean you mic is always on like Skype / Teamspeak.

If you want it to just go on when you start talking , simply change your sensitivity until you get it perfect.



When you are talking you ventrilo icon next to your name will appear green, along with others.

When I was admin on my old vent, I'd wish I'd known about some of these things.

Solid Guide, easy to follow 9/10.
The only criticism I could offer is that Not all of the thread fit on my laptop screen, so possibly downsizing might of helped this.

Nonetheless nice guide xD.

 

^ I can't cater for everyones needs , you must have a small laptop , or low Res. I'm on a laptop an its fine.
