Is weed addictive?

Simple question; however, let me add some information.

Being from the NW, lots of people smoke weed; actually, lots of people smoke a lot of weed. I've noticed that most of the kids at my school who do this always have a list of reasons why smoking isn't bad/should be legal. They go on and on about how it doesn't harm you, no one has died from smoking, it's not addictive, ect, ect.

I would like to ask the question: How is smoking not addictive? I have two close friends who have tried to stop recently and they have told me how hard it was. One of them made it two days, the other is on his 16th day.

Is there a difference between something being physically addictive, and psychologically addictive? Physically addictive like cigarretes, psychologically like "oh I need to have that feeling of being high."

For the record, I've smoked 3 times, been high once. I didn't really like the feeling and I probably won't do it again.

 

Everybody experiences it differently, saying your not addicted is as hypocritical as saying you are. Some things you will have to find out yourself.

 

It's not chemically addictive/physically. It can be psychologically addicted though. People can get addicted to the feeling it gives them and be unwilling to give it up. It really differs from person to person.

The people that get chemically addicted are buying from dealers who put something in it to make it so, they aren't addicted to the weed itself, their body just wants whatever is being used.

As others have said it's not physically addictive but you CAN get mentally dependent on it.

I haven't smoked in a few months and I REALLY REALLY want to, but I don't need to.

 

I don't think its addictive at all , I think the ONLY thing that takes your back for more is the high...

I don't think it's physically addictive, but it is easy to get mentally addictive. There is always that urge to get high once you start smoking it. At least with me.

 

In one way yes if you highly enjoy it, No in its easier to kick than others.

I get bummed when I smoke the last of my stash because it's a great feeling and helps me sleep, but no after a day or two has passed I don't crave it or show any signs of wanting more. I'll take a hit anyday if it's offered to me though

OT: People can get addicted to food, video games, and working out too. You can get addicted to anything in the world, mentally.

im on my third day of qutting and its not like im having extreme withdrawls or anything but i do find myself getting antsy and snappy with people, i have nothing against weed and im qutting for my own personal reasons so smoke on people!

 

No it's not. It can cause dependency just like anything else in the world.

 

Weed is just as addictive as any other thing that makes you feel good.

If weed is addictive, then so is coffee, food, working out/playing sports, etc.

 

i dont feel like people that are addicted to nicotine.

I would say that not only me, but alot of my friends are mentally addicted to it.

 

Can you get addicted? You can get addicted to anything. Is the Drug its self known for having addicting traits no not really.
