Good fight old/new wild.

Well, RIP old wild February 1 - March 11, 2011.
As some of you know, Jagex has implemented an update with double exp. Players can no longer venge other, heal other, or spec restore others in single wilderness. Although this was a bit annoying it will become a significant point in time as it marks the point when Jagex has begun manipulating the wilderness. I suspect within a year it will be unrecognizable, just as it was 1 year within the release of that stupid ditch.

So enjoy its slightly altered state while you can, I have a sneaking suspicion large changes will be coming. Can you say déjà vu?

Looks like its time to move my spec restoring to either the mage arena or revenants... Thanks for the news though.

 

I'm pretty pissed tbh, even though I never used this to my advantage it was part of the old/new wild.

It's nice to know I won't get downed for full bandos from a triple korasi spec anymore, but I had a feeling it was going to come to this.

wildy is still fine.. if you needed other people's help to "pk" then youre not that good to start with.

That's all I see from this update.. If you don't have 94 mage you shouldn't have Venge on you. You shouldn't have to have your spec bar refilled 30 times just to KO someone

 

^A valid point, but the fact of the matter is that its a change in the dynamics of the so-called old wild, which is now obviously the new wild.

 

Spec restore is restore the special bar?

That's doesn't sound like a PVP skill and sounds like it takes the fun out of PVPing.. Just turning it into ganking.

I PVPed the other day in the wildy and it's basically just dueling.. though this was on F2P.

 

I think this is simply over reacting.
This was something they were planning to take away from the wild for a while i'm guessing, there are threads all over the place. It was being abused.

Players could heal each other, re spec people, veng them, it wasn't fair.

If you didn't work for 94 mage you shouldn't get veng, period

If you couldnt KO them with two specs then you don't deserve any more.

And you certainly don't deserve free healing

Why are you QQing about this update?

This update was great as far as im concerned. I no longer have to worry about losing a big risk if im actually pking with risk due to some kid and his 3 friends that have absolutely no skill, and spec transfer, veng transfer, heal ect.

The ditch might have slowed luring, but obviously it didn't stop it. Look at luring now.

This update definitely didn't kill the wilderness. It's better off this way. No one wants to PK if you just get 2 hit by Korasi specs.

As far as future updates go, they will evolve them around the players needs just as they did this one. You should be happy you got the wilderness back at all.

 

god, they removed the spec transfers and shit cuz people were bitching about it. if you guys bother to go on the rs forums, you would see people crying about losing bank due to this stuff. They would freeze u, u would attack the person they were venged by someone else, then they mass spec u like 10 times and they get healed if they almost die. It was literally impossible to kill people with 20 healers or spec restorers. It was real annoying even though i did spec restores but then i could pk cuz of all the douchebags. This is a good step imo.

And not gunna lie, i could give two shits for old wild, i liked pvp/bh better imo because you got better loots and it was worth pking, all i see now are kids with korasi swords and rune armor, atleast you used to be able to get better loot then some shitty coins and a rune set. The only good thing of this old wild update was the ability to free trade and that was all, everything else was fun imo because it was fun hybridding cities and shit.

 

They really didn't do anything new except for taking away "veng other" and "heal other."

Energy Transfer has always been a multi-way spell, they fucked up when they made it single way, must of forgot or something. TBH, I'd rather have the wildy and not have the ability to do that rather than having like 10 wildy and having that.

 

Nah they won't take away wild,or free trade. It's wayyy too profitable for them.

This isn't Jagex "manipulating" the wilderness, this is more of them fixing a huge problem. Do you know how damn cheap Spec Restore + Korasi is/was? '

This is like Jagex fixing a staking glitch in the Duel Arena and people saying "OH MY GOD JAGEX TOUCHED THE DUEL ARENA, THERE GOES STAKING".

Now let me guess you thought the wilderness ditch was and continues to be a good update because it stops downies from venturing into the wild by lurers for bank?

Massive spec restoring is not a god damn glitch like fixing a glitch in the duel arena. If you had half a brain you would know that you could EASILY counter massive spec restores with venges and rag range (But I've never been in the wild so I actually wouldn't know.)
