Hey guys, as many of you know Openvz container management uses a modified version of the linux kernel which sometimes causes OS problems...right now I'm bumping into problems booting it and keep getting a Kernel panic error (doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that's a bad thing). I think it may have something to do with the fact that this computer uses an AMD processor where as it works beautifully on intel. I'm writing a modified version to work on the server.

That being said it may take a little longer to get this server up and running than originally thought.

But we'll be up as soon as possible!

I fixed the kernel and got the VPS up and working I'm now installing a desktop manager, x11 vnc and from there adding java and bottech shortcuts.

 

Do u have a vps for sale?

Sorry guys for the delay...I'm finally to a point where I could release these two servers but since I have litterally "hacked" by way to this point there is still alot of bugs to iron out. I'm cleaning them up right now.

 

Looks really interesting. My vps ran out today so if this ever becomes public I might give it a try

 

Ok guys so here what I've decided. I can't get all the issues worked out at the moment and I'm starting to get irritated with this server. I have literally bumped into problems on every level: kernel installation (fixed), utilities installation (fixed), setting up parameters (almost fixed having problems with UBC), gnome and vnc installation (finished), jave-runtime environment (currently working on).

To say the least this server has cost me alot more time than I thought it would so I'm not going to be promising an exact time of release but you can expect it before Wednesday.

Again sorry guys I really did think that this would be done a day ago. I'll put out a post as soon as I get done!

Just dropping a word of support and a BUMP.

 

Doubt it will come out. It doesn't take 1 month to make a customised CentOS template. Plus you haven't mentioned a virtualisation platform, I'm very fretful with the fact you're trying to create a custom one (looking at the fact you're trying to install a custom kernal, which is totally ridiculous).

 

Who said I'm taking a month. The reason my project took 3 months before I mentioned it on here was I had to get ahold of the servers. I'm not trying to customise the kernel. I had to make some mods to make it run properly...plus all container management software uses a moded version of the kernel. So I'm only making very small changes to add stability.

I use openvz for virtualization with a hotfix for the java problems.

 

I feel like I owe Jamie my support here. First I would like to comment on his support. Any question I have had he worked readily to answer it. Now obviously he can't offer 24/7 support for $16/month for a 2gb vps, but anytime I had a question about the vps like adjusting the settings/how to how see many resources I was using up, he either did it for me or gave me a very detailed response on what to do. Now I can't comment on how well he is solving problems on his end, for example the server being down etc etc, but I'm sure he is more then capable to solve these problems. Next I would like to comment on the vps service. He warned me it may be buggy since it's in the beta stage, but I can honestly say I have not experienced one problem whatsoever since my purchase. The server has never once shut off and my bots would of continued to run if I wasn't using a free theiving script where it got stuck on a random. I can truthfully say if he continues providing vps service, I will continue using him

 

Great news got one of them up and running it will sell as soon as the other VPS is up. (this way I can test system resources and make sure it doesn't put too much stress on the host machine.
