How to properly prepare for a job interview

Everyone has one at one point in their life; and you're more likely to be hired if you are dressed well and prepared for those tough questions. I will be teaching you just how to do this ^_^

    Appearance
Clothes: This is one of those things that speak wonders on who you are; a good key is to avoid clothes with logos. I would personally walk in wearing a button down shirt rather then just a normal T-shirt. If you do not own a button down shirt either purchase one of wear a nicer shirt you own.

For pants I would suggest black dickies, pants preferably but shorts are OK. Stay away from plaid shorts or any colored pants.

You NEVER want to show up to a job interview wearing piercings; this shows irresponsibility and most managers are turned off by it. If you already have piercings just remove them, and never show up to work wearing them.

Posture: This tells wonders about you, even if you don't realize it. Sit up straight, don't slouch in the chair.

Do not cross your arms, put your hands together, or fidget with your fingers. The absolute best way of handling it is to put your hands on your lap.

Also make sure to keep complete eye contact with the interviewer, he doesn't want you to look around his office.

Ok we have the way you'll look and the way you'll sit down, thats not even half the battle.

    Those questions you dread:
No interview is the same as another, these are just common questions you need to answer correctly.

Q: Why we're you terminated from your last career?
A: This one really depends, if you quit don't just say it say something along the lines of "I was not enjoying my time spent their and was looking for more in life, which is what brought my interest into your company"

Q: What do you think would make you a good fit for our company?
A: Bring up any skills you may have the fits the job description(obviously) and also bring up how you are willing to try anything to help get the job done. This shows some initiative and employers eat that up.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: This question is a trap! Do not say video games, tv, computers, etc. Believe me those will make them thing you're lazy and turn them off. The best way to answer this is to bring up something you like to do outside of the house; be it sports, going to movies with friends, etc.

    Additional notes:
Never EVER EVER EVER EVER use the word "umm" on questions, this is a NO GO phrase! If you need to think about the question say "Let me think about that"

Like I stated earlier you want to keep complete eye contact with the interviewer.

Sit still, try not to shake your feet, move your hands, etc.

Make sure to not over do it on the cologne/perfume; you do not want to overpower their sense of smell.

BRUSH YOUR TEETH; if your breath smells horrible they'll see it as a sign of laziness.

The single most important thing is to be calm, if you go into an interview nervous you won't answer the questions correctly; it is very important to remain calm.

You have now mastered the key elements of a job interview, once you get past your first one you'll feel a lot more confident. And if you mess up remember, if happens to all of us; once you mess up once you'll be fine for the next ^_^

Nice guide. All of the information here is useful, and nothing really can be added besides the fact that you should always eat a tick-tack or mint as you're waiting for the interview. Brushing your teeth helps, but your breath can go bad over the course of the day for those 5:00 PM interviews.

Also for later in future guides, or even this one try to format the guide a bit. Add some different color variation, titles / bolding for new "sections" and also centering to give it a nice clean look.

Add cologne in there. I had to interview this kid about 2 months ago and he came in smelling like piss due to drowning himself in this cologne.

    Very nice guide.

Was gonna write a guide like this argh.

Nice guide, I find the font was a tad to big though, a simple guide for smaller job interviews, well done.
