Why? The big rank above our name does plenty (for both ranks). Neither are staff, neither should have a staff-like appearance.

Why should the focus even be on the perks of being on the UE team? Getting the UE rank is easier to get than it has ever been.

Interesting course of events. Not so much expected, but still a pleasant surprise to see that Sythe leadership has the capacity to take the reigns in order to fix something which really needs fixing.

I know that I for one will be paying more attention to the UE section over the next few days/weeks.

I might be looking to finish writing (and posting) a guide I've been semi-working on this week. :)
I thoroughly agree but hopefully this is a step in the right direction.

For User Education to reach it's full potential it requires more than just a name change. I'll summarize what I believe is needed below.

There's no need to confine UEs to the UE section. An example of this is SytheMonthly, which failed because of the lack of activity between the UE. It went from a monthly news bulletin to a "who got promoted and demoted" very quickly. The UE was not willing to go out of their way to make interesting reads. I am not singling anyone out. Their needs to be competitions, projects and the like organized by the UE. I think you understand what I mean.

I'll type up more when I have time

I agree with Magic Arrow, where the focus of the UE should be more centered around the quality, and helpfulness of the person, then just writing some guides. Sorry if this isn't what you meant, but I in a way interpreted it like this from your post.

Anyway, in a way it is a step in the right direction. More people are helping out around the forums. Even though some are being helpful JUST for the application, it makes Sythe a better place.

The section has never really been used to its full potential. The problem with organizations is lack of interest, much like what Magic Arrow is talking about. I fully support the reduction of guides from the application process and have thought the section was moving away from guides for a long time now. There needs to be flexibility in the group. If you do not preform or not to the standard required of you then you are swiftly removed. This is how the section needs to work and quite honestly how the staff system should work as well. Find a middle ground in the application process between much too easy and much too hard and enough people will apply so that you can have the flexibility needed. Encourage people stepping down when they have lost interest and allow them back in easily. The whole nonsense about writing one guide per month or checklists needs to be gone as it makes people conform to a system that encourages staying on one path because you have to. Allowing flexibility will encourage creativity and people pursuing their own interests. Bring all these things together with a good leader or leaders and it may work.

fishy. Hue doesn't become staff, but they have power to move threads and that type of stuff in the ue section.

You can trust them Dalps. I'm just glad something is being done at the moment

The only reason HUE was given a staff spot in the first place was due to a fluke in the Team Lead system a LONG time ago. Originally it wasn't meant as a staff position.

It's respected as a staff position ever since you took the spot though r33l. That's the respect we had when you were at that position and hopefully, Finn could resurrect the User Education forums for the better. Not saying Greg, or how I know you Gregislacrosse, didn't do a sufficient job in anyway, this is just some new insight that could benefit the forum.

As for the name, I think we should change when you get 500+ posts, instead of being Apprentice, we change it to like "Forum Jockie" or something, and change the UE title to "Apprentice".

It would make the most sense to me.
