Why do you think its important to have a hero in todays society?

I suppose it gives children someone to look-up too. I might classify a hero as someone who did something amazing for his community, IE: Firefighter running back into a collapsing building after his team already evacuated to save a child or something.

It proves there's still some good left in man kind, with all the bad things happening around us you cant hope but assume thats giving children a bad example of whats acceptable. This generation is doing pretty bad.

Heros essentially give hope, inspire others, and set a good example, so sure, its important to have one every now and then, even if its just someone to look up too.

Then why post?

By 'hero' what exactly do you mean?

 

Whatever your deffinition of the word may be.
Whether it be a police officer, public figure, your parents etc. Whoever you think of as a hero, why is that man/women important to have in your life?

 

So people have a role-model, and something to aspire to be.

 

Most kids become too distracted with all the kid stuff they have to do.(hang out with friends, go to the mall, ect)
heroes help kids look much farther forward in their lives. role models give kids something to aspire to be.

The most important reason for having role models is that it creates a self-fulfilling prophecy.(look it up)

simply by wanting to be like their role model, they are actively participating in their own success.

 

A child generally wants to be there hero, if there hero is good the child will also be good to be like there hero, thus making the future better as eventually everyone will want to be good.

All though some peoples heros are bad which makes people bad

I think a hero would have the ability to give hope and faith to people who have lost everything. You can't live in today's society without having some sort of confidence or hope in yourself

 

because goverment can't handle the terrorist and we need a hero.

 

todays wannabe superman i'd say

 

A hero doesn't give us only safety but also gives us fate.
Also we are less scared for terrorist like what happend in 9-11.

What is a hero?

I don't believe a lot of the people we classify as heroes are such.

Anne Frank isn't a hero
Terri Schiavo isn't a hero
MLK isn't a hero
Kanye East isn't a hero

Superman is a hero
Batman is a hero

I think it is important for people to have (fictional) heroes because then there is someone to look up to. Someone you know is always going to do the right thing. Someone you can count on to do things, no matter how selfless they might be.

Shit like that.

 

There really are no "heroes". Heroes are made up and only live on movie screens, books etc. But why ? Because our surrounding is so full of greed and evil and as we all no evil generates more evil. Now, nobody wants it to happen so we make up "heroes" and show them to children and hope we can mold them into "good" people. As they grow they might forget that "heroes" name but it doesnt matter cause contribution is already done. I hope i didnt confuse u too much :laugh:

 

I think a hero is important because
-A Child will most likely see this "Hero" as a role model
-From the Child's POV, The hero is somebody they want to be
-Then, with the hero usually being a good (morally & legally) person, the child will begin to follow in the footsteps
-The child, while following in the footsteps of said hero, will avoid bad moral decisions and illegal actions, making them a nice person
