Eight Realms: An upcoming game by Jagex

tl;dr A new web-browser game by JaGeX called 8 realms expected release 2011. Supposed to be similar to Age of Empires, but I'm thinking it's gonna be more like their last game, War of Legends...

Honestly, I can't see a vast player base going to this game. Games like Ages of Empires, Starcraft and Warcraft wil dominate the entire genre. Jagex has absolutely no stake with the big companies. I hate to say it, but Jagex will never be as good as Blizzard at the development process.

If the game is actually good like Age of Empires, and gets a big community, i bet it will be a hit.

 

If it's a free browser RTS then I actually can see many people getting into this. There isn't a decent one out right now (atleast to my knowledge) and I'm sure people who have computers that can't run Starcraft or games like that would play this.

 

People could play it IF the game is good. It would help if its free, but I doubt it being as good as Age of Empires

 

Any thoughts on the possibility of RWT'ing here?

 

Finally something to knock off all those ad-based Civ-games.

Closed beta, so looks like its going to be a while till more stuff happens about this.

 

Sounds like an Evony clone.

I think I would give this game a go. I tried runescape, which tbh looks bad from the outside.

I got a beta key for this today. Just logging in now.

 

Got a beta key a week or so ago and have been playing it since then. It's very similar to tribalwars, travian, and other games like that where you build a city and just manage it without too much interaction. Very quickly buildings start to take multiple hours to finish, so it's supposed to be played very casually. I've spent maybe 10-15 minutes on it per day at most, and my building queue and things like that are always full. The only way I can imagine spending more than just a handful of minutes per day on this game is if you make multiple accounts, otherwise you just make a few clicks and then close the tab for an hour or three.
