    Make it Harder to register?

well, since we get loads of nubs coming to sythe posting phishers i say make a longer registration method, it would stop accounts being created just for phishing.

    Make it Harder to register?

Its already not the easiest process in the world. There are other alternatives. Its not like most of them are auto creating accounts.

Not sure how I feel on this one.

i disagree, however I feel that sythe should make you verify your e-mail address when creating an account.

I do agree with this, but it will come down to Sythes judgement.

Registering itself is quite a difficult task. Personally, if I wanted to register another account I need to search for a proxy which hasn't been used on Sythe before and then fill out quite a lengthy form. It's honestly fine.

This would only make it more challenging for bots, not humans. The majority of the phishing attempts over the past month or so were human.

Email verification is still needed, even if bots will be used, it is even easier for them when there is no email verification.

Email verification wont do anything bad add maybe 10 seconds to the register time of a human. There's no reason to implement it.

As far as bots go, if its really THAT big of a problem ( Which i highly doubt it is, I'm sure the people posting these java drive-bys, phishers, ect are human ) just add a Captcha when registering.

    Do not support

    Make it Harder to register?

Or you could limit the amount of sections newcomers can post in?

Things like that have been suggested multiple times, Sythe doesn't want to limit newcomers. The only exception is the spam forum.

Proxy? Anyone could just clear their browser and be able to register again.

You must not get his post.

Ban evaders, that constantly register, need to be on via a proxy, or they'll just get banned again.

    Make it Harder to register?

Oh ban evaders, I thought he was talking about registering multiple accounts. However, do you mean if their ip is identified on a new account they will get banned? Or that they are auto banned if they register with a banned ip? If the former then why would they care if their going to get banned for a fisher soon anyway. If the latter then I understand now where he's coming from.

    Make it Harder to register?

Considering most people have dynamic IPs these days, proxies are a thing of the past. All they would have to do is reset their router, and then register again. People might think that email verification is a small pointless step, but it actually would reduce the amount of spam and phishing a lot. That extra minute or two is a lot bigger deterrent than you think.

I support email verification, and a waiting period before you can post, and another waiting period before the black market becomes available, possibly a post requirement on black market but I'd hate for that to lead to +spam.

I feel extremes like this could help, but they should only be applied to the black market.

    Make it Harder to register?

    www.google.com/voice

Free 9 digit phone numbers and free sms. I think the only limitation is you can only make 10 google accounts a day.

I personally wouldn't ever join a site that requires sms verification at sign up, and any scammers / phishers it was meant to keep out can easily just create google voice accounts and bypass it.

It's not even the fact that you could get around it easily, i just like it because it's just an extra step you have to take. The more tedious we make the process, I believe will deter at least a small amount of undesirables.
