I find posting in the "contact us" section is the best. I got mine done in just over a day.

Okay i attempted this method but for some reason its not working out for me.

I changed the name to something offensive, posted on forums, and when i woke up this morning the name was reset to something like #300978. However when i try to take the name that was previously active on that account and use it for my main the name change website on rs says the name is unavailable.


Please tell me this doesn't mean i just lost a 3 letter name

 

I would just wait the 28 days period and do it then since you wont really risk it then. Or just stay one day all day on runescape and keep checking until the name is available to use. I will do this method pretty soon so Ill let you know how it goes =)
